A Mirror Tells No Lies

I stand in front of my mirror, tears in my eyes
I say, "mirror, why don't you show me today instead, a happy lie?"

The mirror says, "Sweetheart, I know what you want," it sighs.
"But, honey, you know, I cannot tell a lie"

It speaks again, "Although I must tell you, there's nothing to hide, because honestly the only lie is the one you have inside that mind."

"What do you mean?" I ask, "you said so yourself, you show what is right, and what you show is my face and a body I despise."

"My dear," the mirror tries, "it's not what I show you, it's how you see what I provide.
You must not change the image in front of you, you must change your mind."

"The face that looks back at you, if you look close you will find
That what you see if you try, might bring you surprise.
For all you really need to do, is not see with your mind, but open your eyes."

"And all of this, my darling, you know to be true. Because as I've already explained, a mirror tells no lies."
