Long, long ago, someone gave me a shovel
They told me to use it to dig myself out of the rubbleInstead all this time, I've been using it the wrong way
Because since long, long ago, I've been digging my own graveDown, down, deeper I'll dig
Inside of myself, deep down I always livedWith this shovel in hand, my past is overturned,
The words on my gravestone are written, my resting place assuredSo you'll dig with your shovel, dig me up until I'm bare
And I'll dig with mine, down the road a grave to shareI'll shovel my way through the bugs and the dirt
And with me you'll dig, until we share the hurtLong, long ago, someone gave me a shovel
Was that someone you? Will you help dig me out of trouble?Since long, long ago I've been digging my own grave
But with you by my side, I can finally be braveI'll keep digging down, deep inside of me
I can stop looking back, and ahead of me I can see...
