The Wall We Built

Chapter 14

I left him there I wasn't strong enough to drag him back.  I was going to take his truck and go for help.  As I was running back the way we came...  I was really out of breath and I stopped for a second to see if I could catch my breath.  Behind me I herd footsteps running my way.  I quickly started running... Finally I got to Connors pickup.  I slammed the door and watched to see if I would catch a glimpse of what was chasing me.  It was him... What he didn't tell me was that when they die they turn to a wolf and roam as a wolf until that body dies.

I began to cry... I grabbed the keys and shoved them into the ignition and drove away from that place as fast as I could.  When I got back to the highway I grabbed my phone from my pocket still in tears.  The first person I could think to call was Angle.  The phone rang three times and she picked up. "Angle... He.. H... He's.... H... He's gone... Th... they.... I... It came out of no where I didn't know what to do... Ang... Angle... I don't know what to do now!!!"  Still crying I tried to keep talking but I knew she couldn't understand me while I was crying. 

"Lydia calm down... What's going on I will come get you... I am putting on my shoes now... Lydia where are you?" She sounded so worried.

"Its okay I have a car... I'm almost to the... th... the junior high... will you please just pick me up there and can I stay with you tonight?" I was still kind of crying. "Please I cant go home I don't want my dad to ask questions and it is a Friday."

"Of course Lydia... Anything... My parents wont mind... I'll be at the school in a few minutes."

"Okay see you there bye."

"Bye" 

We hung up and I made my way to the junior high and on the way I called my dad and told him there was a test coming up in science and I was going to study with Angle. When I pulled into the school Angle was already there.  I parked Connors truck grabbed all of my stuff and ran to her and hugged her for a few minutes still sobbing.  When I stopped crying as bad we got in her car and drove back to her house.  I was so drained from crying and running.  "Hey angle I'm gonna just go to bed... I'm really tired."  She nodded her head and she gave me some cloths to change into and I dropped into the bed and fell asleep.

I woke up the next morning... Sat up and noticed that Angle wasn't in her room... I got up to go look for her and she was upstairs in her kitchen cooking something.  "Whatcha cooking?" Angle jumped back almost ten feet. "Hey I was making you breakfast... Oh and your dad called." 

"Oh did you answer?" I asked.  "No."

"Oh okay... Where is my phone... I'll call him really quick."

"Its on the couch."

"Okay thanks."  I walked over to the couch, grabbed my phone and called my dad.  "Hey dad"  He answered the phone... That's a first.  "Um I was going to stay longer we still have a lot of studying... I bet Monica would help you." I hated talking on the phone... My dad always drags on the conversation. "Okay thanks dad... love you too... Bye."

"What was that about?" Angle asked.  "Oh my dad just wanted me to help with my grandparents horses."  I replied

After we ate breakfast we got ready for the day.  "So what do you want to do since we don't actually need to study for a science test that isn't happening." 

"Um do you want to go to the mall and walk around for a while... Oh then we can go for a drive and go swimming."  I nodded and we grabbed our shoe and headed out the door. 

When we got inside the huge building they call the mall and I took a look around and instantly decided that I didn't want to be here.  I hated the mall and I don't think Angle really likes it either but its something to do and we need swimsuits so why not I guess.  "Okay so lets hurry and get this done so we can go to the beach."  I felt bad for hurrying this but we will have more fun at the beach. 

We got done and headed to Angels car... As we were walking out the front door I herd my name yelled from what seemed like at the other end of the mall.  "LYDIA!" It was max... Connors best friend... He finally got to where we were and he asked.  "Have you seen Connor anywhere I haven't seen him since yesterday after school."

Oh god... How do I tell Max that his best friend who was a werewolf was killed by another wolf?!?! "Um... Max there is something I need to tell you... Connor... He... He was attacked when we were out in the woods next to his house... Max... He's dead."

He didn't even start to cry he just stood there.  "Wait angle can I talk to max alone for a second?"

"Um Yeah sure."

"Did you know about the wolf thing?  You knew right"

"Yeah of course I knew... Cool thing about it is that I'm the same way."

"WHAT!?! Okay wait... When you die as a wolf does the wolf side come back as a wolf and not as a human at all just wolf?"

"Yes... I'm guessing you saw that part right?"

I nodded... "Well we are late so I'll talk to you later then I guess."  Angle and I made our way out the door and before I left I looked back at Max... He was watching us leave... He smiled and his eyes flashed a bright red and then he turned and disappeared into the crowd.
