The Wall We Built

Chapter 20

We were all waiting at the hospital... I haven't left.  I haven't gone to school... It's been almost a week and Angle hasn't woken up yet.  I feel so bad for Max he told me how he feels and he has been here the whole time right by her side.  He hasn't gone to school... No one can get him to leave and go to school.  He said something about wanting to be here when she wakes up.

"Hey... Hey Max... Do you want anything to eat?  I'm going down to the cafeteria."  He was sleeping and I felt bad waking him he hasn't slept much.  "Um no thanks I'm good."  I smiled and walked out of the room and down the hallway towards the cafeteria.  

As I was walking down one of the halls I ran into Oliver.  "Hey, I herd Angle was here... I was just on my way to her room to see if you were there."  I was surprised... I didn't expect that.

"Um okay... Sorry if this seems rude but why exactly were you looking for me?" He looked at me as if he was hurt that I asked him that... Well I guess I did kind of say that a little rude.

"Well I was going to ask you if you and one of your friends wanted to go camping with me and my family." I gave him a really unsure look... I mean I do love camping so I guess I could ask my dad but leave out the Oliver part.

"Um I don't know... When?" He gave me a look like oh great she is just going to say no because she is busy that weekend.  "We were planning on going next weekend."

"Um I'm pretty sure I'm not doing anything next weekend... If angle hasn't waken up by then I'll probably be sick of this hospital... It would be great to have an excuse to leave."  I don't mean that at all I want to stay here and be here for when Angle wakes up. "Hey I am going down to the cafeteria do you want to come with me?"

He nodded his head and followed me down to the cafeteria.  I just hate when people follow me... I hate when I walk into a room and I'm the first person that everyone sees.  I hate when all eyes are on me... I feel like all those eyes are judging my every aspect. 

When we got to the cafeteria I bought me and Oliver a muffin and some juice.  As we were walking up the hall way Max came charging down the hallway towards Oliver and I. "YOU GUYS SHE WOKE UP!!!! THE DOCTORS ARE WITH HER NOW!!!"  I looked at him with a huge smile and we all ran back to Angels room. 

When we walked in the room she was sitting up and when she saw me walk in the room she jumped out of bed and hobbled to give me a hug.  "Angle you better be careful... get back in bed."  She hugged me and I helped her get back in bed. 

"Have you all been here the whole time?"  She was so happy to see that Max and I had waited here for her to wake up.  "Well Oliver just got here."  I said to her and looked at him.  We had a really long conversation about all that had happened that week and we told her how long she had been asleep for she freaked out.

"Um hey guys can I talk to Angle on my own for a minute."  I hope they will give me a chance to talk to angle before Lydia spills her guts about me liking her.  

"Yeah sure."  They all replied at the same time like a bunch of robots.

"So Angle I wanted to tell you..."  I was so nervous I didn't know where to start. "I like you... I hope you like me too... I know this sounds so fifth grade on how I'm telling you this but its the truth."   Felt stupid I was just spitting words out. "And I know about the wolf thing that's why you've been asleep for almost three weeks now... That's what happens when your the Bijou and you have never experienced the change." I was getting ready to tell her more but she interrupted me.

"Um wait... Are you trying to mess with me.  What is a Bijou and I don't even know what your talking about.  I've been asleep for almost three weeks now!?!?! What about school???  What did you tell the school... What about my grades and all the homework?!?!"  She was so worried... I felt bad I sprang all this on her. 

"Calm down Ang... We told the school that you got in a car wreck and are in a comma... They told us that your work is excused till you come back and are better.  I've never left your side this whole time I have hardly slept so that I could be the first person to see you awake."  She looked more sure of everything.

 "Wait did you just call me ang?"  I was confused it was just a nickname... She doesn't need to be rude.  "Don't call me that... Only Lydia is aloud to call me that." 

We sat in the room in silence waiting for Lydia and Oliver to get back.  They were taking for ever I told Lydia that I only needed ten minutes at the most.  Where did they go on a trip to mars.

"Hey Oliver do you want to take me home while they are talking and I will ask my dad if I can go camping with you and your family."  I looked at him for a few minutes and hoped he would say yes... He gave me a smirk and I punched him somewhat softly in the arm.  "Yeah sure lets go."

We walked through the hallways and out the front door.  Out in the parking lot I saw Chase walking to the front door.  "Hey Chase... What are you doing here?"  He gave me an irritated look.  What's his problem?

"Um last time I checked I am aloud to be at the hospital."  What the heck is his problem. 

"Sorry for asking... I was just wondering if you were here to see Angle." He rolled his eyes at me like I had done something that really made him angry.

"What was that all about?" Asked Oliver snapping me out of my thoughts.

"I don't know but I plan on finding out... But lets forget about it, I told my dad that I have someone I want him to meet and that I have a question."  Oliver shrugged and he began walking to a Toyota that has raised so high wasn't sure I could get into it.  It is about as tall as my brothers truck I could probably get in.

"Ummm.... Oliver how do you expect me to get into that?"  He looked at me in deep thought.

"Hmmm I could just pick you up and put you in."  He flashed a cute but irritating smile at me.  "Hahaha your real cute... Well at least that's what you seem to think... How 'bout a leg up?"

He sighed and walked over to the passenger side of the truck.  When I got over their I expected him to just do as I said but no he had to be a boy and not listen.  He picked me up and lightly placed me in the seat.  "There's a few things you should know about me... I never listen to anyone.  Even someone as cute as you." 

I quickly looked away so that he wouldn't see me blush.  "Come on romeo... I don't got all night to get home."  I looked back at Oliver and gave him a smart alack look.

When we got to my house and of course my dad was waiting outside... He obviously expected a boy. When we got out of the truck my dad started to lecture me.  "What are you doing with a boy... Have you been with him this whole time? You haven't been at the hospital have you?!?" 

"Oh dad quit you know that I was at the hospital... You walked me up to Angels room."  Oliver started to speak to help defend my case.  "Hey I'm Oliver and I just wanted to let you know that I was walking through the hospital... Making my way up to Angles room so that I could see how she was doing.  She doesn't know but her parents know mine.  Sir she really has been at the Hospital."

My dad calmed down "Okay... Sorry I guess I was over exaggerating the situation." That was the fastest I had ever herd my dad agree with me and say that I was right and that he was sorry.

"Dad Oliver invited me to go camping with him and his family... Well his family invited me." I looked back at Oliver so that he didn't say anything and blow my shot at being able to go. 

"As long as I can meet his parents and make sure their going to be there."  I smiled... I was happy that my dad said that I could go.  He never says that I can do anything boy related.

"Oh and dad Angle woke up today so do you think I could go back to the hospital for a few more days and I promise I wont skip school I'll make sure I'm not late."  I was about to say no but Oliver spoke before he could.  "I'm not staying at the Hospital of course but I could make sure she gets to school... We do go to school together."

"I don't care I guess."  I jumped in the air and lunged forward.  I gave my dad a hug and ran to Oliver's truck and crawled in the passenger seat and almost fell and we quickly made our way back to the hospital.
