I woke up today. Got ready for school. Went to school. Nothing interesting happened.
I got Grey. We went home. They switched his school so I went on a new route.
Now here I am. Going to take our pictures. It's strange what a 10 year old can make you do. We sit in two chairs. Grey beside me.
"I'm excited" he says "you have to smile. That's why we're doing this, so I can always remember your smile."
I flick his forehead. "So... Do you like your new school or do you want to go back to your old school?"
He shrugs "I dont have any friends anyway."
"Okay. We'll switch you out next quarter."
"Okay."
We sit quietly.
"Cecilia and Grey." A nice lady says.
"Right here." I say.
She leads us back. Grey looks at the back ground.
"Can we change this?" He ask.
I tilt my head.
"Can it be Autumn instead of Spring?"
"Let me see."
Autumn is Grey's favorite season also. He doesn't like spring that much. He gets hot to easy. I smile as the person changes it to Autumn.
I go over to Grey. He smiles up at me. I smile back.
"That the smile I want to see in the picture."
"You're so picky." I tell him.
We get in position. I sit on the floor and Grey sits on my lap. We take a couple pictures. Different positions and different face expressions. Who knew taking pictures could be so fun?
Then we take a actual one where we smile. I get up and look at them. I ask how much for all of them and she gives me a price.
I have enough. Luckily.
She ask for my address and tells me they'll be delivered in 7-10 business days. I say thank you and we leave.
"Now what?" I ask.
He thinks about it... "Hmm...." I see him look at me and then look away. "Can we um... Go visit dad?"
"We can try."
We take the bus to the prison that our dad is at. I honestly haven't seen him five years and I'm super nervous.
We had a good relationship. I loved him and he loved me. He loved Grey too. He didn't know my mom abused me. If he found out he would've took us and left. I loved mom at the time.
Now if I could tell myself one thing... It would be to tell my dad what was happening.
When we get there I show my ID.
"You have to be 18 or older to go alone."
"It's my dad." I say.
His eyes grow sympathetic "Don't tell anyone I let you in."
He let's me through.
I sit down at a table and Grey sits beside me.
"Cece... Im scared."
"Why?"
"What if he changed. What if he doesn't love us?"
"He's not mom. He'll always love us."
Soon a man that looks like my dad comes out. I see him smile as he sits down across from us.
"Cecilia... Grey... You're all grown up."
