Coincidences (AU Karkat X Terezi)

Chapter 12: The Memories

It took awhile for the band to work together even with Karkat helping them. That explains why they don't have many performances he thought. Fortunately in the end they managed. Latula had jokingly deemed Karkat second in command while Porrim was making sure Cronus didn't do anything to Mituna. What a bunch of idiots he thought while smiling to himself. It had been a long time since he had actually hung out with people in real life. Usually during weekends he would play on Sburb and meet troll/human players in the main lobby server

Late night Saturday. The sky filled with a flurry of stars. After having dinner with his father and annoying brother he rushed up the stairs. On nights like these Karkat would hurry faster to get into the game. I'm going to do it! I'm going to ask! Tonight was the perfect night. If he was lucky the night sky in the game would reflect the sky of the real world. He practically slammed the headset onto his hard skull and tapped his fingers nervously as he waited to log on. He had asked Latula "no late night jamming" so he could do something important on Sburb. Latula didn't object but instead asked questions. Some too personal for his taste. He just replied with a quick "I'll tell you later"

Bright light shone across his eyes as he logged in. He appeared bewildered outside of GC's Hive. Terezi? I guess she's not in yet. Perhaps it isn't the best time to tell her who I am in real life. He paced around outside the colourful hive. The night sky was indeed the same as the real world. The balcony seemed to be made of the same wood as the surrounding trees. There was a silvery grey ladder leading up to the hive's roof. Even if it looked out of place Karkat remembered why that was there. The dull grey of the ladder had yet to be splattered with paint or decorated with chalk. For a blind girl she sure had a massive colour obsession.

He recalled GC or Terezi talking about how she missed stargazing. This was his first time at her hive. They had met in the main lobby's market area. She was carrying a bunch of scalemates and he wasn't looking where he was going. It had happened quite fast. One moment he was walking to the weapon stand the next minute he ended up on the floor with a girl lying on his back.

"Would you mind getting off of me!" He screeched grumpily. Surprisingly she just laughed.

"Of course nubby horns! It's not like it was on purpose or anything!" She stood up dusting herself off. Karkat glared at her for a moment before realising he had heard similar laughter before.

Where? She strikingly resembled his crush Terezi Pyrope. This girl had the same laugh and liked the weird little dragon plushes. Once or twice he had seen a dragon head poking out of Terezi's bag. Not that he checked that or anything. He had just happened to glance at it. He helped her pick up the scalemates. Then he asked why it wasn't in her sylladex.

Perhaps it wasn't the most romantic first meeting. He had never really intended it to be romantic. They met more often than not. Both liking each other's company. Then came the day they swapped codes so they could visit each other's planets. He had a small crush ever since he noticed the similarities between Terezi and GC. He didn't want to get his hopes up if it turned out to be the wrong girl. The first time he visited the planet GC took him to the roof of her house. It was a memorable one.

"Hey CC?" Asked GC turning to look the other troll. Shyly she smiled at him as he turned his eye sight back to her. "What do you see?"

"What do you mean? Stars, obviously what else would be in the sky" Between the swirling neurones, in the dark sky, small stars twinkled shining like small suns. The pair had been sitting on the roof of GC's hive for hours. Having hushed conversations as they just enjoyed the other's company in silence.

"I'm not sure if you've noticed but I'm blind!" She exclaimed.

"Well no duh! You've tripped enough times to be called blind" he jokingly said turning his gaze back to the swirling galaxies.

"No really I am blind..." She mumbled quieter.

"Your serious?"

"Yeah"

"Oh..." Was all Karkat could say in reply. Sure she's fallen a couple times but she's actually blind. "How do you navigate so well? I mean when you don't have your cane."

"You probably won't understand"

"I can try" he said turning to look at her this time. She looks so relaxed with the starlight across her fac-woah come on Karkat pay attention.

"The game allows me to smell colours" she spoke with confidence. She had no idea how he would take it. Perhaps he would laugh it off maybe call her weird; tell her that she's making this up?

"That's...pretty fricking weird but it's also pretty cool!"

"T-thanks!" She stuttered surprised at his reaction.

"What do I smell like?" He wondered aloud.

A small smirk crept up on Terezi's face. "Can I get a closer sniff?"

Sometimes Karkat would forget about reality. What was there not to like about Sburb. Landscapes that wouldn't exist in the real world but would be possible. Others defying the laws of physics.

"Hey, you gonna wait out there forever or what?" A voice said from behind him. Karkat leapt about five feet in the air. How long had he been standing here? How long has she been standing there?

A wave of nervousness washed over him.

"Hi GC" the Cancer troll spoke trying to remember what she said.

"Hi yourself nubby horns" she cheerfully replied. "Are you going to come in or what?"

Both sat comfortably on the sofa. They made small talk both taking shy glances at each other. Of course they remembered what happened last time.

"and that's why I'm scared of swimming pools now!" exclaimed GC vividly waving her hands around trying to get her point across. She's so cute Karkat couldn't stop thinking.

"Hey GC I have er...something to ask you" Karkat couldn't stop fiddling with his hands nervously.

A/N: Thus ends this chapter. Sorry for the late up date I'm writing every chance I get. I've got my PPEs (Pre-public exams) next week and I've got so much revision homework. Still I'll keep updating! Have a nice day
