Chapter 31

Adriana's POV

"Happy birthday Adriana!" Julia, Ethan, and Nate sang as they handed me a cup cake. It was now my birthday, and I'm finally 21, so that means I can go out to the club. That's also where Julia's taking me out later, since she has to work now during the day.

"Thank you," I smiled towards them, and started eating the cupcake. Nate, Julia, and Ethan started handing me some gifts as I was eating it, but I told them they didn't have to get me anything. "It's your birthday! We have to give you something," Nate exclaimed.

"Well thanks again," I giggled, and I laughed. Once I finished the cupcake they gave me, Nate and Julia started telling me that they had to go to work. "We're sorry we can't stay for the rest of the day, but we'll definitely see you later tonight," Julia said with a smirk, and I laughed.

"Okay," I giggled, and I gave them both a hug goodbye. As they left, I turned over towards Ethan. I still feel bad how I called the thing off I had with him, cause I can tell he still has feelings for me. But we all know what that led to, and it created a huge problem. But the good thing about it is that we're still friends. "So what do you wanna do?" I asked him.

"Anything," he replied. "It's your birthday, you should do whatever you want."

"Alright," I lightly giggled, and I saw him smile. Suddenly, I felt my phone buzzing in my back pocket. I took it out, and it showed that my mom was calling. I felt myself feel really happy inside since I haven't heard from my mom in so long. I then looked back at Ethan, saying, "I'll be right back." He nodded, and I hurried over to my room. I then answered the call, saying, "Hey mom!"

"Hey sweetie!" she said excitedly. "Happy birthday!" I thanked her, and she asked, "So how's everything going?"

"It's going good," I told her. "Julia, me, and some other friends are going out later tonight."

"Well don't have too much fun knowing that your 21 now," she laughed, and so did I. "So have you seen Grayson yet?"

"Uh, no," I told her, remembering how I have to tell him the truth about everything... "He hasn't come back to LA yet. I don't know if he finished filming his movie."

"Well, all I know is that he has a big surprise for you that I think you'll love," she replied, and I felt like she had a smirk on her face. "Oh really?" I asked her.

"Yeah," she said. "He told me about it." I then started wondering what this surprise must be, and it must be a good surprise if he told my mom about it. We then started talking and catching up on some other things during the next few minutes. But I soon had to let her go since I heard some voices coming from outside my room, and it was more than just Ethan talking. I put my phone back in my pocket, and looked outside my door to hear the conversation. "So this is all true?" I heard a familiar voice say, and I finally realized who's voice this was.

It was Grayson.

I suddenly froze, realizing he's actually here. I even felt my body fill with fear, knowing I have to tell him face to face no matter what. "Look Grayson, let me explain everything," I heard Ethan say.

"No, I don't wanna hear this from you right now," I heard Grayson say back a bit angrily. "I wanna hear it from Adriana." I closed my eyes, and took a deep breath before walking out. As I started walking over to them, both their eyes shot over towards me. "Is this true Adriana?" Grayson asked a bit desperately. I looked into his hazel-brown eyes, then back at the ground. "Please tell me this isn't," he said grabbing both my hands.

I looked back at him with a sigh, and said, "I'm sorry." I even felt some tears form behind my eyes, but I tried to stay strong and hold them in. He then let go of my hands, looking so hurt. "But let me please explain it all to you."
