Just when you thought your day couldn't get any worse, you spilled your coffee all over your shirt, after you tripped over the leg of the table. The burning drink not only stained your shirt, but burned the skin underneath it.

You let out a groan of frustration, throwing the paper cup across the room, hitting the window with a soft plunk.

You collapsed into your office chair, your head in your hands as you willed yourself not to cry. This day has been horrible since the moment you woke up an hour late. You had rushed to get ready for work, realizing when you stepped out of your apartment that you had mismatched shoes and your shirt was inside out. Too late to go back in and change, you hailed a cab. Unfortunately, you were standing right in front of a mud puddle, and when a cab finally pulled over for you, you were sprayed with dirty water from the gutter. You pressed your lips together, trying your damndest not to get any of the mud in your mouth, and reached to open the door of the cab.

Your hand was met with something warm and sticky. You looked down to see you had just put your hand in pigeon poop that had covered the door handle. You gagged, and yanked the door open, throwing your body into the back seat. You took out a container of hand sanitizer from your purse and a tissue and tried to wash your hands off as best you could.

"Where to?" The driver asked you.

Still frazzled and not really paying attention, you ignored the driver and swore when you discovered you were out of hand sanitizer.

"Where to?" The driver asked again, more irritated this time.

You looked up at him, wishing in that moment you had just stayed in bed this morning. "Stark Tower, please."

The driver nodded in response and pulled off, beginning to drive.

You leaned back in the seat, and inspected yourself in the rearview mirror of the cab. Your (H/C) hair was frizzy and wet from gutter water, as were your mismatched and inside out clothes. The mascara that lined your (E/C) eyes was dripping down your face in long black streaks. So much for water proof.
The loud sound of the radio coming on blared through the cab, and you clamped your hands over your ears. An obnoxious (least favorite music genre) song exited the speakers.

"Um, excuse me?" You asked the driver. "Would you mind turning this down a bit, please? Or just turning it off all together?"

The driver shook his head and banged his hands on the steering wheel to the music. "This here is my favorite song."

The horrible music mingled with the sounds of car horns, and construction, giving you a ringing head ache. You searched your bag for any sort of Advil or pain killer, but no luck.

Since the car was stopped in traffic anyway, you unbuckled your seatbelt. "I'm just gonna get out. I could walk there quicker." You threw a five dollar bill and some change at the driver, who was yelling something at you, and got out of the car, running to the side walk.

You looked down at your watch. 9:56. You were already almost two hours late for work. You began jogging down the sidewalk, hopping to God that maybe you'd make it to Stark Tower before Tony decided to fire you.

You're about to turn on the street Stark Tower is located on, when you trip over the curb and spill the contents of your purse everywhere.

"Shit!" You exclaimed, kneeling down to collect the variety of hair ties, chapsticks, tissues, tampons, empty wrappers, and other random items from off the ground. You went to put your phone back in your purse, when you discovered a giant crack right across the screen.

"Oh come on!" You shouted, shoving the phone and your wallet in your purse. Just to make things that much better, your wallet unclasped, and your money came spilling out onto the sidewalk. People gave you odd glances as they walked by, not one giving you hand. Except one.

"Need some help?" A man asked.

"Yeah, that'd be great. I've just been having a rough-HEY!"

The man had grabbed a handful of your money and took off running down the sidewalk. You got ready to chase him, standing up from off the ground, when you felt the heel of your shoe snap off.

"Are you kidding me?!" You shouted. You took off your shoes and shoved them into your bag, thanking God that you had at least worn pantyhose so you wouldn't be completely barefoot running through New York City.

Regardless, you still stepped in gum.

By the time you finally got to Stark Tower, you were two hours and seventeen minutes late for work. The only good thing that had happened was that you hadn't cried yet.

You made it into your office at 10:17, clutching a coffee that Pepper had so kindly gotten for you. That's when you tripped and ended up where you are now. Crying at your desk wearing an inside out shirt, broken heels, runny mascara, and smelling of pigeon poop and gutter water.

A soft knock interrupted your crying, and you looked up to see your boyfriend Clint, holding his hands behind his back.

"Bad day?" He asked you kindly, coming over to sit down on the edge of your desk.

You nodded, sniffing. "It's been horrible. And Tony's probably gonna fire me later because I was so late."

Clint shook his head, waving you off. "Tony loves you. He'd never fire you unless you, like, said Iron Man was your least favorite Avenger."

You smiled a bit. You could always count on Clint to help you feel better. He came up behind you and wrapped his arms around you.

"Tell you what, I'll tell Tony you weren't feeling so great and we can go back to my place and eat these," Clint held up a giant box of (your favorite candy). "That'll help you feel better."
You leaned into Clint and sighed. "That'd be great."

Clint smiled back at you. "When we get there though, the first thing you're doing is taking a shower. You smell like a toilet." He scrunched up his nose, making you laugh.

~~~
After taking a shower, you put one one of Clint's t-shirts and a pair of his pajama pants, and hopped on the couch, where Clint had already put on (your favorite movie) and gotten an array of snacks including the bag of (your favorite candy) he had gotten for you earlier.
You snuggled into his side, and he wrapped his arm around you, pressing a kiss to your forehead. "I'm always here for you, babe. Just so you know."
"And I love you. Just so you know." You replied, kissing his lips.
Coincidentally, Bad Day by Daniel Powter came on while I was writing this Lol
