Nick sat in a pouty manner, twirling his straw in his cup. Carrie sat across from him, staring him down with pity, while eating her chicken. "You need to cheer up Nick, I'm sure she's going to be with him temporarily."
"Don't say that just to make me feel better...I want Judy to be happy too, not just me."
Carrie exhaled dramatically. "Well, you've been down for the past week ever since you found out they were going out."
"You can tell?"
"Um, I think everyone can tell, Nick." Carrie pointed out.
Nick groaned, slamming his head onto the table, startling other guests, including Carrie.
Carrie rolled her eyes. "Well, even though she's officially dating that Jacob guy, I'm still pretty sure that the relationship won't last very long."
"And why...say that?" Nick muffled.
"Huh?"
Nick lifted his head and rested it on the table. "And why do you say that?" He repeated.
"Well, Judy just doesn't seem like his type from what you told me."
Nick became skeptical. "What did I tell you?"
"Well, Jacob is a rabbit, basically fresh meat, he's a jerk, and sneaky...need I go on?" She smirked.
Nick gazed at Carrie and sighed. "I feel so depressed. I don't know what to say."
Carrie petted Nick. "Don't worry about her Nick. She'll wake up sooner or later."
"But I want it to be now." He demanded.
"You can't rush love, my dear young one. You must be patient. Love is patient."
"Well love isn't helping me accept the fact that Judy is with that guy!" Nick snapped.
Carrie was in awe, amazed by how angry Nick got.
"You're in love with her...aren't you?"
Nick blushed and scoffed looking away. "You must be out of your mind, Butterbean."
"You can put on the act," Carrie got up, slamming her paws on the table. "But you can't fool me, Nick Wilde. I know a heartbroken person when I see one!"
"Well, geez, thanks for encouraging me with your discouraging comicalness."
"Anytime!" Carrie snickered. "But honestly, are you in love with Judy?"
"No."
"Now come on," Carrie sat back down. "If you aren't in love, then why are you so upset about them being together? I mean, she is a bunny, and he's a bunny too. That's a great match, so of course she'd be happy!" Carrie nudged him in his arm. "You should be happy for her!"
"And I am happy for her! I'm just not happy that she's with him!"
"Because you love her!"
"Shut up."
"You love her, you love her!" Carrie teased.
"This conversation is done." Nick got up and walked away, intentionally leaving the restaurant.
Carrie waved him goodbye. "We'll talk about this some time, Nick! Don't think that just because you're having a fit by walking away is going to stop me somehow, cause it's not!"
Everyone eyed Carrie like as if she was very disruptive, which she was. "Oops." She giggled.
Jacob began taking Judy to work every day during the rest of the week. Nick witnessed it all, Jacob holding Judy by her waist, he coming into the ZPD like as if he was a worker there for years. It sickened him down to his stomach. So much, that Nick couldn't help himself. He had to go and greet the magnificent couple that everyone was crediting.
"Well, aren't you a tricky rabbit." Nick grinned, eyeing Jacob up and down.
Jacob snickered. "I guess I can say that you're the sneaky fox then."
Nick frowned, wanting to retaliate. "Well, anyways, Judy!" He clapped. "It's great that you've made it to work!"
"Thanks, did you guys find out where the con artist was?"
"Actually, no. I haven't."
"You haven't?"
"We haven't. And it's very disappointing that you're not working here side by side with me, you know? So like, can we go now?" Nick jerked his thumb towards the office.
Judy laughed. "Nick, aren't you forgetting that I have duty?"
"Duty? Where?"
"The streets, where else?"
Nick frowned. "Alright I guess."
"Well, I guess I'll see you later, my sweet corn muffin." Jacob gave Judy a kiss, intentionally on her lips. But since she had moved slightly to wave him goodbye, the kiss ended up landing next to her mouth.
The sight made Nick's blood boil, but he decided not to let the moment take over his sanity.
"See you Jacob!" Judy waved.
As she turned around to begin walking over to the changing room, she bumped into Nick. Looking up at him, she noticed how gloomy he was.
"Mind explaining to me what all that is about?"
"All what?"
"That." Nick pointed at Jacob who was driving off."
"That's Jacob, silly."
"Yeah, that's my point."
Judy arched an eyebrow. "What are you getting at?"
"Why are you even-" Nick's rant was cut off by his conscious. It was reminding him of what Carrie had spoken to him about yesterday "-even taking so long to marry the guy, just go right ahead!" Nick blurted. He covered his mouth quickly wishing himself dead.
Judy blushed. "Wow Nick. You just want to hand me off to Jacob that quickly?"
"No no, I didn't mean it like that, damn it!"
Judy smiled. "Well, I guess that could happen...but I'd rather wait. We just started dating. No point in rushing it."
"You're right, you are so right. Let's not rush. Let's wait it out!"
"Yup! That's the spirit!" Judy nudged Nick in his arm, skipping off.
Nick watched her take her leave, wishing that he had a blade to snip his tongue off."
"Yikes." Benjamin muttered.
"You were watching us...weren't you."
"Everything. I watched everything." Benjamin bit into his donut. "You seem to be pretty into Judy."
"I am." Nick blurted again, smacking his forehead.
"Aww!"
"Please, leave me alone." Nick began walking off.
"That is so cute! You should go and tell her!"
"While she's in a relationship? Yeah, good luck with that one."
After work was finished, Nick tossed his jacket over his shoulder and took his leave. Of course, Judy was awaiting for the arrival of Jacob to pick her up.
"Hey, do you want a ride home?"
"No thank you." He declined.
"I don't want you to go home alone."
"We'll, I've gotten pretty used to it, I mean, that's how I've been most of my life...so it doesn't matter."
Judy began feeling annoyed. "What is your problem? Is it because I'm with Jacob you're acting like that?"
"What?! Are you insane?" Nick spoke baffled.
"No, but I might be. Because I don't see why you would be."
"Exactly, so let's drop the topic, whiskers." Nick crammed his paws into his pocket and exited the department.
