"Hey, Carrots? I forgot to mention the party to you last night."
Typing out a ticket on her device, Judy licked her thumb and ripped the sheet off. "You mean the one that Carrie invited us to, right?"
"Yeah, I reread it while you were giving your lecture at road call."
Putting a paw on her hip, Judy looked up at Nick and furrowed an eyebrow. "Oh, really? Not paying attention in class, eh?" Judy handed Nick the ticket.
Taking it, he plants it in the windshield of the illegally parked vehicle. "Forgive me, it's just that being that we have so little time to even get ready for this party, I wanted to skim over the details and talk to you about this as soon as possible."
"True, let's do so then. But remain alert, we're still on duty." Judy warned.
Following behind Judy, Nick replied, "Of course. So, as you had mentioned prior to us receiving this invitation, yes, it is a formal event. Square Garden is indeed a garden, with many exotic plants and ornaments decorating the entire place. It starts at 8:00 PM, and of course, eighteen and over are allowed entry. The only issue is, ah..."
Stopping, Judy turned around to face him. "The only issue is what?"
"The invitation says, no foxes allowed."
Judy's eye twitched. "Where does it say that?"
Taking out his phone, he lowered it to Judy's level and showed her the fine print located at the bottom right corner of the PDF.
It definitely did say, no foxes allowed.
"What kind of bull is this?" She sneered.
"Yeah..." Nick heaved a sigh. "I sort of figured that there would be a catch to all this."
"What do you mean? This is outrageous and outright disrespectful!"
"Judy, the event is formal. And the place that is being rented out is very expensive, meaning, that very important animals are going to be present there. The last thing anyone would want to see is a fox ambling around the expensive foods and displays ornamenting the garden like treasure...they think even now, that we're all thieves alike."
"Well, I call BS." Judy grunted. "How did Carrie not realize that this party excluded foxes only?"
"Knowing Carrie, she probably just read the big easy to read letters because they were more convenient to see than tiny dots purposely hidden to make everyone who agrees to something, look like an idiot when it's pointed out to them."
"Well, that's one way to put it." Judy frowned. "We need to bring this to Carrie's attention."
"Yeah," Nick held his head. "Because she's about to look like a damned fool dressing up for a party, she's not welcomed to..."
Judy tapped her foot rapidly, thinking. "No, no, actually—" Judy balled her fist. "You're both going to go to that party."
"What?" Nick gaped. "Carrots, come on. Carrie and I can't just waltz in, uninvited."
Angered, Judy pulled on Nick's belt, yanking him closer. "Nick, pen your eyes! You made history for foxes, not too long ago! You're a cop now! That's living proof that foxes can be trusted! The least they could do is have some respect!"
"Yeah, well, I guess there are bigger problems than us foxes getting a little mistreatment, huh?" Nick smirked pitifully.
Judy was not happy with Nick's response. She knew that this bothered him, but there wasn't much that he could have done.
