Nick dashed back to the ZPD, scrambling through the investigation room for the file of Daniel Camo. Skimming through it, he found a notable section that mentioned: comrades.
Jacob Hares
"That's him!" He gasped. Nick pulled out the document, keeping the files. He stashed them in Judy's office and took off running. "Judy needs to find out, before she gets hurt!"
Judy wanted to go back for another stroll in the park. Jacob promised he'd be around by 6 to pick her up, the same time like the first time they've gone. Judy was skeptical about why Jacob never wanted to leave earlier than that time.
She decided that it was best if she had just met him there herself. He didn't mind that one bit. Sighing to herself, Judy took a shower and got dressed in a sunny dress that had white polka dots. Taking off with her little purse, she arrived at the park by 5, finding a nice place by the grass to relax.
Nick had reached Judy's apartment, skipping stairs and banged on the door. But no one came. Anxiously, he tried to call her. No one answered. Nick punched the door in aggravation. "Where is she?" Nick used his nail to pick the key lock, letting himself in. Looking around with caution, he saw a note that was left on the counter in the kitchen. It was a reminder of her date with Jacob today.
I can't wait for the surprise you're going to give me! So if you come here, first, make sure you prepare it nice and well!
Seeing the note made Nick feel warm and fuzzy. It reminded him of what his surprise for Judy would be. Nick fled the apartment, making sure her door was locked. He took off to the only park he knew of in Zootopia around this area.
Without any delay, Nick dialed Judy's number once more. She was glancing at the scenery, taking in the wonderful cool breeze that flushed through her fur. Her phone began to buzz as she began walking along the grassy patches. She pulls out her phone, checking to see who was trying to get in contact with her. Judy's eyes lit with astonishment. Nick had been repeatedly calling her and she didn't notice. She hesitated for some time, contemplating whether or not answering would've been the right choice. She finally reached for her phone once more, answering the call.
"Hello?"
"Judy!!!" Nick yelled through breaths.
Judy stopped in her tracks.
"Whatever you do, do not go into the park, you're not going to like what you see!"
Judy dropped her arm with her phone in hand. She eyed another girl, who was lying on the field, kissing Jacob.
Judy bit her lip, trembling to pull the phone up to her ear.
"...it's too late for that."
Nick's eyes widened, as he pushed ever forward to find Judy.
"Where are you Judy?"
Judy came to her senses, looking around. "I'm by a lake."
"Which one!"
"Lake Hartmann...the one that's shaped similarly to a heart..."
"I'm on my way."
Judy hung up the phone, cramming it into her purse. A tear leaked out of her eye. It was the second time she proved to herself, that she was a very dumb bunny. She couldn't help but stare at the duo, which didn't even bother to look up to notice a heartbroken bunny, crashing to the ground.
A beeping startled the fragile rabbit, as she observed Jacob reaching for his phone. "Oh, it's time to go and meet my friend now...it's already 5:30..." He sighed.
"We'll just continue some other time."
"We'll talk more okay? But first let me take you home."
Judy bit her inner cheek, clenching her fists.
Nick had finally arrived. "JUDY!!!" He yelled, embracing her from behind.
Tears streamed down her cheeks. She turned around to Nick who couldn't help but feel his stomach churned. Never had a fox seen a bunny so crushed on the inside.
"N-Nick..."
"Judy...!" He mumbled, looking up at the disgusting pair. He looked down at Judy whose face was buried in his warm chest. He bowed his head onto hers. "I'm so sorry I came too late..."
Judy gripped onto the back of his police uniform. "Nick, I'm sorry...I trusted a stranger over you..." She sniffled. "I left the case to you guys...I abandoned you for him...and we didn't even find any evidence...I'm a traitor!"
"Actually, you did just fine with the evidence."
Judy blinked, slightly looking up at Nick. "...huh?"
"He's the evidence." Nick ruffled Judy's head, walking over to the pair and stopped in a distance. Nick pulled his walkie talkie out of his belt, speaking into it. "I got him."
"Affirmative."
"Welp, I guess it's time you say your farewells to your ex Judy, you're not going to see him for a while."
Jacob overheard the conversation, darting his eyes over to them. His heart drummed rapidly.
"J-Judy, what are you doing here?!"
Judy wiped her eyes, marching over to stand by Nick. "I told you I'd be in the park. I just didn't tell you when."
"W-Well this is an awkward way to greet your boyfriend, with your...bad associate?"
"Um, I believe you're the bad associate." Judy barked.
"But your friends with a sly fox! And I'm bad?"
Nick cleared his throat. "Actually, an ex- sly fox. I'm a cop, remember?"
Jacob was getting ready to run, when he heard a loud click.
"I advise you not to move. Or else, this will hurt. A LOT." Nick held up his Taser, aiming it directly at the naughty bunny's butt.
The cops appeared right away, taking Jacob by force. "This is the criminal we've been looking for!" Chief Bogo exclaimed. "Great job, you two!"
"Thank you." Nick smiled, waving goodbye to the bad bunny.
Judy turned away, embarrassed.
Nick knew he had pity in his heart, and took Judy's hand. She was puzzled by his touch, and refused to look at him. Nick took her by her chin, turning hers gently to him.
"I'm sorry...Nick." Judy sulked. "I'm so sorry..."
Nick tightened his grasp. He rubbed the back of his head, anticipating if what he was going to say would matter, or cheer her up.
"Would you like to know my secret...?" He began.
Judy shook her head, trying to ease her hand out of his grip. "Please Nick, now's not the time..."
"I love you."
Judy stopped. She stood there. She looked up at him. He looked down at her. No words were able to match what she felt. What she thought.
Nick held her tightly, refusing to let go. "...I love you, Judy."
