Nick sighed as Angel kept messing up her task. "Angel, dear, please, just take the device, type in the ticket date, let the ticket load, rip the ticket, and place it in the windshield of the vehicle."
Angel did what Nick told. She waited for the ticket to load, ripped it, and placed it into the windshield of a misplaced vehicle.
"Gosh, that wasn't so hard..." Nick pinched the bridge of his nose.
Angel exhaled. "I'm sorry, I'm just so nervous about the civilians who'd catch a fox like me, placing ripped paper in the window of their car." She grinned.
"First of all, foxes can be cops now." Nick flipped his shades on. "And for the record, you might want to rip that grin off your face. We aren't friends."
"Oh come on, Nick! Why are you being rude to your fellow fox mate?"
"Fox, mate?" Nick lifted his shades a bit to cock his eyebrow at the girl. "Look honey, I don't mean to be rude, but I'm trying to be a good boy, a good boyfriend, and a good cop. Nick flipped his shades down again.
Angel sighed. "Whatever you say, 'good boy'. Let's see if you can keep up with it." She grumbled.
As Angel went ahead to give other bad drivers their fines, Nick scrambled his phone from his pocket, dialing Judy's number. It took quite some time to get a response, being that Judy was asleep on the job.
"Come on Judy, pick up, pick up!!!" He hissed.
The phone finally stopped ringing. "Hello...?"
"Oh, Judy! Gosh, am I glad to hear your voice!"
"Oh..." Judy's laugh was a bit strange.
"Hey, are you okay?" Nick asked, his ears drooping a little.
Judy's eyes widened in haste. "Oh! Yes! I'm alright!" Judy hopped back into action, rummaging through scattered papers.
"What are you doing right now?"
"Oh, nothing! Just looking through some cases, you know, the usual." Judy laughed reluctantly.
She could hear Nick's distress through his sighs. "Man...I wish I could be doing the usual with you right now?"
Judy blushed, staring down at the sheets and smiled. "You mean---"
"Be in bed with you, relaxing, sniffing your fur--- " Nick spoke loudly for Angel to hear. He smirked sinisterly, knowing that Angel was probably getting annoyed.
"Nick!!!" Judy gasped. "Stop being dirty! We never did those things!"
"I know sweet cheeks."
"Sweet cheeks?!"
"Anyways, I can't wait to get this job over with. Once these weeks are over, we're going to be watching some romance films!"
The thought of spending time which Judy made Nick's heart warm up. The thoughts of having Judy in his arms took the stress off of the fact of what he had to do for the rest of the week and next week. "I'll be done with this fox girl before she knows it."
"Nick." Judy whispered.
Nick winced, realizing that he was still on duty. "Yes, dear?"
"Please come home when you're done with work...I want to hang out with you."
Nick's emotions became unstable at her plea. "Gosh, Carrot...I wish I can come home but..." Nick glared at Angel. " Chief Bogo requested that I spend the most time I can be with Angel until she gets the hang of being a cop. Stupid rules..."
Judy began to cry. "Judy???" Nick gasped.
Judy bit her tongue, trying to quench the pain she felt. "Sorry! I gotta go!" And the line died.
"Judy? Judy!" Nick dropped his hand that held his phone and lowered his head. 'Just a week and a few more days to go...that's it. That's all I gotta do...and then, it'll be over!" Nick sucked his teeth. "This isn't going by fast enough though."
Finishing with work, Nick was invited to stay over and Angel's place. "Thanks, but no thanks. I need to head home now."
As he shrouded his hands into his pocket and turned to walk off from her doorsteps, Angel grabbed onto his arm. "Wait!"
Nick clenched his teeth, but refused to reveal his anger. "What."
"Listen, okay!" She panted. "I don't understand what you have against me, but I came to Zootopia to find a better life! And I found it right at the ZPD."
"Yeah? So? What's your point?"
"When I found out that a fox was welcomed into the police force, that brought hope to me, but especially my parents. And I became a cop to make them happy, because this is where I wanted to be. And seeing you in the meeting room that day, made my life! I thought to myself: Wow, there is actually someone in here who is just like me!"
Nick stayed quiet.
"Do you understand how much that meant to me? And here you are treating me like as if I'm nothing!"
"It's not my fault." Nick snagged his arm from her and looked at her. "You made a pass at me on the first day you came. That wasn't even necessary!"
"Well, I'm sorry! I thought you were single..." She muttered. "But after hearing you say that you were trying to be a good boyfriend...I realized then and there that I didn't have a chance with you..."
"Yeah..." Nick scoffed, turning away.
Angel gritted her teeth and balled her fists. "And I'm guessing that girl you're with...it's the bunny right?"
Nick's eyes widened, and quickly shifted into anger. "You'd best stay away from her, I'm warning you."
"Calm down! I wasn't passing a threat!" Angel waved her hands around.
"Good, let's keep it that way."
"May I ask one question though?"
Nick contemplated what he should reply. "What is it?"
"Why?"
"Why???" Nick repeated.
"Why her?"
"What do you mean?"
Angel stretched her arm out to one direction. "Bunny," She then pointed to Nick. "Fox."
"Take care." Nick waved goodbye as he was already leaving the gate.
"Wait!!! Can't you just tell me why?! That's all I'm asking!"
Nick kept walking, and then came to a stop. "Because I love her."
