Judy vowed to Nick to never lead his side again. They were praised for the beautiful work they did in uncovering the underling of Daniel Camo, although, how they did it was unintentional.
Three weeks had past ever since Jacob had been gone, and Judy and Nick were closer than peanut butter and jelly. Nick began taking Judy out on dates, holding her hand as a sign of endearment and kissing her forehead.
Judy knew that this would eventually lead to a romantic pull. At 7:30 at night, Judy was kicking her legs under the table, with Nick studying some files. She held her face up with her hands. "When am I ever gonna go see your place, Nick?"
Nick shuffled his eyes to the next line of text. "What do you mean?"
"You've been to my house almost every day, but I never got to see yours!"
Nick poked his head up from the book. "It's...not available right now."
"Huh? What does that mean?" Judy queried.
Nick rubbed the back of his head. "Uh...meaning that it's not available...? It's under reconstruction so I can't have any visitors!"
"Oh!" Judy gasped. "The roof didn't break on you, did it?"
"Nope. I'm actually moving out."
Judy gasped for air. "To where!"
"Nearby Wellington."
"Wellington..." Judy held her chin. "That's actually not too far from where I live!"
"Meaning, I can take shorter distant walks to your home. Three minutes, baby." Nick smirked.
Judy laughed. Her giggles pleased Nick so much, he nearly lost himself and grabbed her, wanting to hug her so tight.
"Need, any help moving your things?"
"Nah, it's already done. Carrie had been helping me transfer her things to my apartment, while I transfer mine to hers."
"So, she lived in Wellington?"
"Yeah, and she was willing enough to move just so that I can be near-" Nick bit his tongue. "Near the deli market!"
"Oh, I see!"
"The deli...the deli...heh...really Nick?" Nick mumbled to himself in annoyance.
Judy pulled the book out of his hand and skimmed it.
"Hey, give it back!"
"Nope! I'm looking at it!"
"Come on!" Nick blushed in embarrassment.
Judy's eyes wandered the pages and grinned. She looked up at Nick. "You're looking for a girlfriend or something?"
Nick stammered. "W-What, I can't look at some magazines?!"
"Not in the middle of our shift, no." Judy placed the book on the table.
Nick rubbed the back of his ear. "Well...sorry."
"No problem. Just don't do it again!"
Nick nodded, staring down at the table. Judy began to tap her chin. "I never had the chance to go and visit my mom and dad..."
"Do you want me to take you to go see them?" Nick questioned.
Judy clapped happily. "That's actually a great idea! When would you be able to take me?"
Nick took out his phone, checking the calendar. "Well...today is Monday so...how about... Saturday?"
"Saturday sounds good! Lemme call them and ask them."
"Alright, take your time Carrot." Nick leaned back in his seat with his arms behind his head. He whistled, watching as Judy had left the table to go talk to her parents on FaceTime.
Peering at his phone once more, he received a text from Carrie.
Carrie: So how's your little adventure going? Did you ask her out yet?
Nick: No, but I did confess to her. I don't think she knows that I love her more than what she thinks I mean.
Carrie: Oh, boo! You should ask her out then, you know, use your sly foxy skills?
Nick: Lol. I'm not going to be sly into getting her to be with me Carrie...
Carrie: I'm saying to woo her in; I mean like---...size her up!
Nick: No.
Carrie: LOL! NO! I mean like
Nick: I'm not going to size her up like a predator.
Carrie: like size her up as in make her feel good!
Nick: No.
Carrie: LOL!!! NICK!!! COME ON!!!
Nick: No. Just no.
Carrie: Alright, alright. Fine. Do it the way you wanna do it. Just don't screw this up for yourself like you always do.
Nick: Right.
Carrie: Bye!!! <3
Nick rolled his eyes, shaking his head. Judy came back sighing in relief. "Well, they said that it's alright for me to come"
"And me...? Am I welcomed?" Nick queried.
Judy gasped, covering her mouth. "Of course you are! I just want you to be a surprise to them!"
Nick grinned. "A surprise, aye?"
After taking care of their duty in reading some books to study, Nick took Judy home and went on his way. Judy waved him goodbye, walking into her apartment. She tossed herself into the bed and exhaled with satisfaction. She knew she worked hard today, and wanted to make sure she kept up with her standards.
Tossing and turning, she felt anxious and insecure. She was thinking about Nick. "Nick seems to have grown..." Judy mumbled. She pulled out her phone, and skimmed through the selfies she had taken with him previously. A fade smile crept on her face, warming her heart. She held the phone to her chest and chuckled. "Such a sweet guy..."
On a Tuesday morning, Judy was scared awake by the presence of Nick Wilde.
"Nick!"
"Wake up, Judy! It's time to get ready for work!"
Judy's mouth dropped. "H-How do you always get into my apartment?"
"I have my ways." Nick smirked, skipping out of the room and shutting the door.
Judy rubbed her eyes, blinking twice, then got out of bed, hurrying to go shower. Arriving to the kitchen in her police outfit, just as Nick was, she was astonished by Nick's gentlemen persona.
He had prepared her a nice breakfast: Blueberries with carrot slices and lettuce.
"Nick..."
"Eat up! Wouldn't want you to be late!"
Judy sat down, reaching for her fork. "What's all this about?"
Nick shrugged, sitting down to eat the blueberries. "Nothing, just taking care of my partner."
Judy couldn't help but feel the racing of her heart beating. "You didn't have to do this!"
"Oh, but you see, I care for you a lot. So I made sure to wake up extra early, just to make sure you were early."
"But Nick..." Judy said slowly. "I'm always on time. This seems pretty random."
"Yeah, I know. But don't you worry. Everything is going well."
"Well...okay!" Judy laughed, eating her lettuce.
Nick stared with a pleased feeling, admiring her happiness.
