Alec returned with two cans of soda. He handed one to Carrie, keeping his Cola. Sitting next to her, he cracks the lid open, and guzzles the icy cold beverage. To his satisfaction, he covers his mouth with a fist and belches.

"Excuse me." He mumbled.

Carrie then opened hers, taking a sip.

"What, are you afraid of the flavor you requested?" Alec eyed Carrie with a lazy glare.

"I just want to savor it..." Carrie explained, taking a bigger gulp of her drink.

The two sat quietly, ignoring the many patients and doctors who come and go. Carrie felt pretty awkward just sitting there as Alec just kept gulping his drink down. "I'll go and check on her." Carrie stood up.

But Alec grabbed on to her wrist. "Don't."

Carrie arched an eyebrow, looking back. "Why not?"

"The doctor said that she needs to sleep. We don't need to accidentally do something to wake her up."

Carrie's eyes widened with understanding. "You're right." She sat back down.

Alec rubbed his eyes in frustration. "I don't know if I'll be able to sleep here, or sleep at home tonight...depending on circumstances, I might not be able to do one of the two.

"I can stay here with her tonight." Carrie spoke.

"No, you don't need to. I can-"

"I'm the one who pushed her...that's why she got hit. I should pay for my wrongdoing and stay here to watch her..."

Alec blushed, quickly turning away. "But as her boyfriend I must..."

Carrie placed a paw on his shoulder and smiled slightly. "Don't worry about it. You're already stressed enough as it is. Go and rest, okay?"

Alec stared for a moment, and then nodded slowly.

Nick and Judy sat at the kitchen table. "What happened Nick?"

"It's this dumb letter Carrie gave me." Nick scoffed. "I thought it was just an apology, but apparently, she's in love."

"In love?!" Judy gasped, hopping on her chair to stand. "With who?!"

"Guess who."

Judy tapped her finger to her chin. "Okay, there can't be anyone else but Alec."

"Exactly."

"WHAT?!" Judy screeched, causing Nick to cringe. "Is she insane?!?!?!?!?!?"

"Tell me about it." Nick exhaled. "This girl is one of the only girls I know who has enough common sense to not fall for a playboy such as Alec. Boy have I judged wrong."

"Don't say that about her! Maybe she just...sees something in him...?" Judy bit her tongue. Just shut up Judy, you're only making this worse for yourself now! She thought.

Nick slumped in his chair. "Well sayonara to Carrie. I swear if she ever ends up with Alec, I'm disowning her."

Judy gulped very hard. Very hard. "Oh."

Nick stood up.

"Where are you going?" Judy asked.

"I think I'm gonna go lay down on the couch for a bit. All this drama is making my head spin."

Judy then jumped up and down on her seat, balling her fists with excitement. "Does that mean you're staying over tonight?!" She cheesed a big smile.

Nick tilted his head, pressing his neck with his paw. "Sure, why not."

"YAY!" Judy leapt off the seat and jumped on Nick.

"Yikes, Carrots! Chill out!"

Judy pushed off of Nick. "Wait, I just realized that you're calling me Carrots instead of Carrot now!"

Nick laughed reluctantly, looking away. "Oh, heheh, you didn't realize that before?"

"I did, but I didn't want to say anything..."

"Aww, you miss your wittle nickname?" Nick teased, ruffling her head.

"Hey! Back off, foxy, I'll kick your butt!" Judy smirked.

"Oh really? I'd like to see you...TRY!" Nick launched Judy into the air, swinging her around. They laughed for a couple of seconds until Nick finally spun to the couch, tossing themselves onto it. "Alright, that's enough play time." Nick spoke.

Judy wiped a tear from her eye and smiled. "Yeah, yeah. We were only having some little fun."

"Tch. The wrong fun." Nick scoffed.

Carrie sat next to the hospital bed and stared distantly at the white walls. Alec had already left home to take care of some things, but he never mentioned if he'd return.

The events replayed in Carrie's head repeatedly. Snap. Push. Shove. Watch. Traumatize. Repeat. The fact that she snapped at Angel, pushed and shoved Angel, watched Angel get hit; it traumatized her. But yet, Angel was lying next to her, still breathing.

What is going on with me...? Carrie thought to herself distantly. I...can't even think of anything.

Angel breathed and exhaled heavily, almost near the verge of death. Carrie would hold her hand tightly, as though she was trying to force life into her.

"Please don't die on me..."

It was finally 9 at night, and visiting ours was about to be over. A nurse came in, giving her the heads up, and Carrie simply nodded obediently.

After the nurse left, Carrie glanced at Angel and sighed, standing up. "Goodnight...Angel."

Carrie turned off the lamp, leaving the room.
