Sitting at her desk at the job, Judy tapped her pen against her cheek as she scrutinized documents carefully. The cases for some animals just weren't clicking to her. It was mostly because she couldn't think. Judy groaned to herself, banging her head on the desk.
Things had been pretty lonely ever since Nick left. Nick had to go and take care of a case with a different officer who was new to the force. It placed Judy in a tight spot being that the new recruit was a female fox. She had dirty blonde fur, which enhanced her looks, and she looked way more shapely than Judy (why lie to herself though?).
Judy bit the pen cap repeatedly, contemplating what may happen when Nick returns. The look on his face was rather horrifying to the poor bunny rather than helpful.
When the new girl arrived, Judy and Nick were just taking their seats in the ZPD meeting room. Chief Bogo marched onto the podium with his files in hand. Clearing his throat, the officers halted their conversations and gave him their keen attention.
"We have a new recruit on the team." Chief Bogo paused, eyeing everyone with a smirk. "Not that I ever cared in the first place." He glanced down at his papers lazy eyed. Everyone chuckled.
"Hang in there Chief; you'll grow a pair of horns for being concerned about good news someday." Nick's face had a wide grin. Judy nudged him in his arm, chuckling.
"Anyways," the Chief continued. "Meet Officer McKnight."
The first thing that came into the room was the attractive features of the girl which left male officers' heads turned---even Nick's. Judy's mouth descended to the floor, as the fox strutted her stuff (not that it was intentional), and stood in front of the class.
"Howdy, my name's Angel McKnight. Pleasure to meet you all." Angel glanced at Nick, her eyes widening. Judy noticed and looked at Nick, back at the girl, and glared.
"Okay, okay, go take a seat." The Chief insisted.
Angel eyed Nick for a good amount of time until she walked past him, fluffing her tail in his face. Judy continuously eyed Angel sinisterly watching her take her seat behind them.
Nick scratched the back of his head.
"So, do you recognize that girl?" Judy questioned suspiciously by his ear.
"What? No! I've never even seen her before!" He hissed.
Judy's tail flickered as she folded her arms, scrunching up her nose.
Nick took into consideration that Judy was not really comfortable with this new girl here, especially because she was a fox.
After the class got dismissed, Nick and Angel were held back. Judy had no choice but to exit the room.
Walking back and forth by the door, Judy's heart began to race. Thoughts flooding her head, she shook it hastily, trying to block the negative things looming within her. The shadow of the foxes soon came to the door, and the door finally opened.
Nick walked out first, his head lowered a bit shamefully, as Angel happily followed out close behind.
Judy pulled Nick aside, making sure Angel wasn't following. "So what happened?"
Nick rubbed his neck, sighing. Judy could tell by the way he exhaled; it was going to be a stressful situation.
"Nick?" Judy spoke more stern.
"I uh...gotta work with Angel for the next three weeks..."
Judy's mouth quivered and slowly opened. "You what...?"
"I had no choice, Judy, I---" Nick sighed even more, trying to rub the stress off his face. "Chief Bogo entrusted me with her, and I couldn't refuse it, I had no way to---"
"It's fine." Judy said.
Nick glanced at Judy. "What?"
"I mean, its fine, like...if Chief Bogo needs you to do it...then I guess I can't interfere."
"Judy, please don't take this the wrong way, I'm not into her!"
Judy's eyes widened as she shot her eyes at Nick. Nick's eyes quickly wandered the opposite direction.
"I never mentioned that." Judy muttered.
"Mr. Wilde, when do I begin my training?" Angel spoke in a sweet voice. It made Judy's blood boil. She didn't even know why she felt so angry about a newbie who was just asking for instruction?
Could it be that I'm jealous...? Judy gasped to herself and cringed. Stop it Judy...
"Uh yeah! I'll see you at home Judy, I promise. Nick gave Judy a kiss on the forehead, and jogged over to Angel.
Judy turned halfway to watch them leave. "See you..."
And now, the stressful life of sitting in an office alone, surfing through files. Worst part is, it's already been a week and a half days that no one had given Judy a case to crack.
But how could she? The idea of a female fox with Nick, how could she not be insecure about the matter? They'd make a natural pair!
Tears flooded her eyes as she violently rubbed then to stop the swelling. But it wasn't working, drop after drop was falling onto the papers, and she quickly wiped them, shoving them aside.
"I can't believe Chief Bogo sent Nick with her..." She muttered to herself. She lowered her head onto the table, covering her head and continued crying.
Judy honestly felt like a pathetic little bunny.
Why was she crying over something that did not happen?
Nick didn't cheat.
Why did Judy feel that Angel can't be trusted?
Who knows, not even Judy knows herself.
The moment in time where she wish someone understood where she was coming from, there was no one there to fill in that gap. She was all alone, deep in her feelings that no one could save her from. All her brain processed was: There's competition lurking. There's competition lurking. Judy stared down at the ground.
Judy gritted her teeth. She was definitely competition. Angel was the perfect height for Nick, the perfect size, with the perfect looks! It pained Judy to visualize what type of parents Angel had for her to come out that beautiful.
"Ugh...I'm so pathetic! Why can't I just stop assuming?!" Judy cried.
She shut her eyes tightly, refusing to open them back up. And with that, she continued to weep until she fell asleep.
