Chapter 6: Confide

 

 

Liliana runs down a field on a clear day in the meadows. Sam and Chase run along with her. Tabion not too far behind them. "Come on Hase!" they all say in blissful cheer. Hase looks on but he cannot smile. "Why can't I laugh with them? Be among them enjoying the time I have with them. Why?" Hase looks at his hands as tears fall from his emotionless face. "WHYYYYYYYY!"

Hase wakes up in a white hospital bed surrounded by curtains. He sits up and looks at the clock on the side table. It reads 9:15 pm. Hase stands up and opens the curtain. He walks to the door and walks out of the infirmary. He makes his way through the halls and until the sound of fighting echoed in the halls. Hase follows the noise and finds the door to a large room with three rectangular pools, a rocky terrain and fire pits organized neatly along the wall.

Inside were James, Logan and Manny training intensely. Fire illumined the room while the ground shook beneath everyone's feet. Water curved and spread out across the room as well. Logan spots Hase and smiles.

"Someone's finally awake." He says. Logan's arms were engulfed in water just like when he fought Hase. Everyone stops and looks at Hase.

"Lo siento for attacking you brother." Manny says. His fists were made of huge rocks and they were glowing green. Just like before. Hase looks over and notices James held a staff and the tip was a red crystal.

"How long was I out" Hase says looking at them.

"Four hours not long." James says.

"You knocked me out with embers. I saw them before sleeping. I want to fight you. No, spar." Hase says pointing at the training field.

"You're on" James says with a smile. The field resets itself and rubble begins to fly back in place and as puddles seep back into the pools of water. Hase and James walk to both ends of the field and stand in front of each other. Logan and Manny watch from the sidelines of the field. Logan walks up and pulls a droplet of water from the center pool and raises it up in the air.

"The match will begin when this droplet of water falls." Hase and James stare each other down.

"Can you keep up?" James says with a cocky smile. Hase looks at him and does not say a word. His eyes and face still as blank as a canvas.

Logan drops the droplet and time slows down as it slowly descends. The droplet splashes on the ground and Hase and James disappear. Logan and Manny look around the training room. In a loud impending explosion right in front of Logan Hase and James collide in a huge collision of wind and fire.

Logan covers his face then flies backward. Manny catches him and they look on at the collision as it grew stronger. Hase and Logan jump away from eachother and land on the floor. James gathers fire from all around the field and summons his staff. He grins at Hase.

"I assume you don't know how to summon your weapon yet."

Hase looks around and spots 2 Katana blades on a wall of weapons. He looks back at James and prepares to spar. James speeds towards Hase. He thrusts his staff with quick motions. Hase dodges them and grabs the Staff. Hase pulls himself onto the staff and stands on it. He kicks James in the face and James stumbles backwards. Hase dashes for the Katana blades. James gathers fire to the tip of his staff and aims it at Hase. Hase grabs the duel Katana blades and pulls them from their cases. James fires a huge blast of fire at Hase. Hase blocks it with the Katanas and smoke covers Hase.

Everyone looks as the smoke begins to clear and Hase was gone. James gasps and Hase pulls the Katana swords to James' neck.

"Match set." Hase says.

"The winner is Hase Haha" Logan says scared.

"That's sad chico he didn't even have to use his powers to take you down." Manny says

"He got lucky." James says unsummoning his staff.

"Luck isn't real it's strategy and quick thinking that wins the fight." Hase says putting the Katanas back in their cases.

"So you're saying I'm dumb?" James said angrily. He walks up to Hase. "Don't think your above everything. You just came here and problems are already brewing."

"Then why am I here?" Hase says glaring back at James.

"Because we're supposed to work together. But you haven't tried to cooperate with us at all. You know all of our backstories you know our faces. We know just earlier today you had everything taken away from you but that doesn't mean you have to be this freak with no emotion what so ever."

Hase looks at James. Hase's eyes stayed still as if nothing of what James said fazed him.

(Listen! I'm sorry! I am please! Forgive me! I can't speak with you like this, I'm not me! I don't want this HELP.)

"Listen, I'm sorry I am. Please forgive me. I can't speak with you like this. I'm not me right now." Hase stays quiet for moment. "I don't want to keep fighting like this so let's start over."

"Okay?" James says looking back at Manny and Logan as they shrug.

"Leave me alone!" Roars in Hase's ear.

"Did you guys hear that?" Hase says looking at everyone.

"No what did you hear?" Logan says

"Someone crying for help" the cry screams louder in Hase's head. Hase runs out of the training room and towards the main hall. The others followed him. He runs down the main hall into the conference room. He runs towards the window and throws a portal at it. He runs in and the portal disappears.

"Come on he might need help." Manny places a portal and jumps through it. Logan throws a portal and jumps through.

James stopped and looked out at the view. "Will I ever get a break?" He sighs and places a portal and runs through it.
