A/N I'm going on a trip this week so I wanted to make this chapter a little longer. Bit of a plot twist. Definitely was not expecting it. Well, happy reading!

There wouldn't be enough time to raise my gun back up. I was holding it limply in my hand anyway. I wanted nothing to do with it. But it's not like I could outrun the bullet. Who am I? The Flash? I couldn't do anything. The only thing I could think of was hope.
Hope that he would miss.
Hope that he would have mercy.
Hope that I wouldn't die.
If only I hadn't felt so hopeless.
"Let her go," David commanded.
The guy didn't move. But he did respond. His voice was silky and sent chills down my spine that made me fear him even more.
"So the beast cares for someone other than himself?"
David didn't reply at first, but soon enough he did.
"No. I just don't want anyone else getting hurt."
He doesn't care?
I couldn't look at David. I could only look at the hooded figure's gun. The words echoed through my mind. Soon turning from a question into a statment. I was shocked and hurt by them. After the past months that I've been in his home, I would've thought that he would care just a little. Why would he have saved me? Why did he give me a room, and the clothes, and night of stargazing! Why was he so nice?! Did he pity me?! Instead of hurt, I felt anger bubbling inside of me. I shouldn't be angry though. I shouldn't care what my captor thinks.
Don't get too close. You only have yourself in the end. And now, I had to pay the consequences.
"So you wouldn't care if I shot her right now?" He asked, his voice slightly wavering, but he quickly hid it.
"Personally no. I could care less. But, think of the family you're hurting. Imagine what'd they would feel."
He doesn't care.
David tried creeping over to the guy, but he heard him.
"Now, now. We won't have anyone sneaking up behind me. Isn't that right David? You wouldn't want her family to grieve. Just like yours did when they saw how beastly you really are. Oh wait, your parents never did get to see your true form."
Through gritted teeth David responded, "Stop."
"You know it is rather cute how you found a girl to finally care for you. I find it a real shame that you're too stupid to see what a gem she is. If you don't care so much I'd like to take her for myse-"
David didn't let him finish. He lunged at him, but not before the loud gunshot. Immense pain shot through my right arm. I was caught off guard, which made everything worse. Emotions of every sort ate me. I needed to get away from them. For my safety and sanity.
I tried stopping the blood with my other hand, but it didn't work. My arm was in such intense pain that I thought I was going to pass out.
"Giovanna!"
I heard David from not too far away. I didn't want to talk to him. Scratch that, I didn't want to see him. Thinking of the happy memories that occurred in his home made me even more angry. But it made me angry with myself. Of how stupid I was.
My pace didn't slow as my breathing became heavy. I only made it to the telescope when I collapsed on the blankets. I felt like I couldn't get enough air in my lungs. Black was consuming the corners of my sight, but not before I caught a glimpse of David. His expression was pained. He said something I couldn't hear as he lifted me up. He was still in his beast form making him act extra gentle. I saw little glances of my surrounding. Cuts and bruises scattered across David, blood all over my arms, and a tear running down David's cheek. But I could not process any of this. My mind was blanking out as was my hearing. I only heard bits and pieces of what David was saying.
