Maggie's POV

All I need is answers. I think Yuno understands that, at least, I hope she does. If not then she has no reason to be giving me them. Unless she has an ulterior move...

Nope! Stop thinking that way Maggie! Yuno is a friend and she is here to help you.

Speaking of Yuno, the girl had closed her eyes in concentration - most likely figuring out how to word her response.

Yuno eventually sighs and sits straighter in her seat. "When we first met, I told you that we need your help to find a planet to live on because the resources that are necessary for our survival are running out, did I not?"

"Um, yeah, you did." I'm a bit confused as to where this is going. "You also told me that you didn't know where you are or where you're going."

Yuno frowns. "Yes,... our species is called the Daym-"

I almost choke. "The dam?"

Yuno stares at me as if I'm crazy. "Yes, the Daym."

I try to hold my laughter back, because oh the puns.

Yuno huffs in annoyance. "Anyway, if you would kindly let me continue my explanation that would be much appreciated."

"Sorry."

Another sigh. "Our home was the planet Markuzi that was close but not too close to a star that served as the center of our solar system, much like the planet you are so fond of... Earth. But, a few decades ago the star that Markuzi revolved around exploded into the red giant it is today, engulfing and incinerating our planet." At that point Yuno allows a small smile on her face. "Before our planet was destroyed, you came to it and helped us build this ship that would be able to hold the two main species that survived in harmony on Markuzi: us Dayms and the Jukos. The Jukos are our source of food, we have a single enzyme in our stomach that is only capable of breaking apart a gas that is produced by a Juko when they get scared. The green smoke coming out of their body that you saw earlier was actually the product of a hormone in their body being released and forcing an organ that only they have to produce that gas which we then suck into our bodies. That is the only way we can receive the nutrients we need to survive."

I put a hand to my chin and bite on my thumb nail in concentration. She never explained how it's running out...

"The Jukos, as you saw, are dying from this even though they don't normally die. We think that something is happening to the Jukos that is making them physically weak and easier to die than normal." Yuno explains confidently.

Yes but- but how did you make them scared in the first place?

Why did your eyes turn red?

How do you not know what's going on with the Jukos?

The questions I have but am too scared to voice crowd around my head.

As if reading my thoughts Yuno smiles a bit as reassurance. "The way we scare the Jukos into releasing the gas is very simple; our scientists have created a serum that makes Jukos more wary of their surroundings, and thus, more scared of their surroundings. That forces their body to release the gas for us to eat... oh and the eye thing, that's just a natural response our body has when we suck in the gas... we don't know what is going on with the Jukos because they have an entirely separate part of the ship devoted to them and them only. Every once in a while they send in someone to feed us, which we are grateful for, but recently since many of them are dying, they're becoming more hesitant in sending people over. That's why we need to find a new planet, one where we can live in harmony again, one where the Jukos are strong and we can feed easily, a planet like Marzuki..."

Yuno trails off at the end, her small speech making me forget mostly about how she practically read my mind.

Practically?

No, she did read my mind.

"Hey," I start, "Can you get me a glass of water? I'm feeling kind of thirsty and I have no idea where to find one."

Yuno tilts her head to the side, as if she's examining me, making sure that I'm worthy of a glass of water. Then she blinks, says okay, and disappears.

I sigh to myself. When did I get so into sighing?

Yuno's leave was on purpose, so that I could have time to myself and be sure that there isn't anyone that can hear what I'm thinking. I have a bad feeling that Yuno know's more than she's letting on.

I hope that she would stay away for a while, but my wish gets smacked down when I hear a knock at the door.

Knock, knock

The force of her fist lightly rattles the door I had locked. I scramble back into a corner, that was way too fast.

Knock, knock

She knocks again, this time I voice my thoughts. "Who's there?"

 There's a pause, then a voice speaks. "It's Yuno."

"Yuno who?"

Another pause that lasts slightly longer than before. I hear a sound that is similar to the sound of when you hit your forehead on a door. "You're right,"

Actually I'm confused.

"You don't really know who I am. You deserve to know my real name."

My eyes widen and I run to open the door and tell her that it was just a joke, that she doesn't have to sound so Daym sad about it.

I fling open the door, a bit breathless, and look at Yuno straight in the face. "It was just a-"

Then I take in the fact that she doesn't have a water glass in her hands.

And the two huge people standing behind her as if they're bodyguards.

"-joke." The end of my sentence dies away, lost to the wind more like a final breath than a word.

Yuno stands there, a commanding aura about her, "You deserve to know my real name," she repeats. "I am Commander Addison Hirel of the Daym army. Now tell me your name Doctor impostor." She hisses.

I gulp just a bit. "The Daym army you said?" I manage a weak smile.

Yuno - no - Commander Addison glares at me with a gaze that could melt my entire body until I'm nothing but a bunch of random atoms floating around in the air. "You are under arrest."

Perfect.

So i made a few changes to last week's Author's Note: it now says that I'll be updating every Wednesday night instead of Sunday nights. I realized that Sunday was a very bad idea because Sunday nights are when I actually do the homework I was assigned to do and lied about doing the entire weekend. *laughs*

So yeah, I hope you like this chapter. I tried to explain everything that's going on and I hope that some of you are catching on to the subtle hints that I'm trying to put in each chapter about how the two are going to connect. (tbh I'm really just improvising this entire thing as I go and when I put something like that in a chapter I myself am probably not going to remember it :P)

Anyways, I hope you like the humor I managed to slide in here, I also hope that you guys didn't get into sports anime unlike a certain author here (it wasn't me. I promise)

As well as sports anime I also started four mangas and three animes today. Please do not ask which ones because I will give you guys an entire list of animes that I have yet to watch that I would force you into watching.

Welp, thank you for reading; leave a comment, vote, follow me, or just keep up with this story if you like it!

I love you guys, and as always...

BBC and BBC America own Doctor Who.
