Maggie's POV
I'm sitting in my room which is conveniently located somewhere in the depths of the labyrinth known as the TARDIS. So, anyways, I'm just sitting there reading a book when I hear the TARDIS take off and land somewhere.
Now, I'm curious to see where the Doctor dragged us off to this time so it's a surprise to see that when I get there I'm alone.
Did Tibby and the Doc really leave me in the TARDIS alone? Do they seriously trust me with this?
I stop thinking about that when something on one of the TARDIS's monitors catches my eye.
It looks like a computer game so I go to investigate it.
On the screen is a picture of Japan surrounded by a bunch of coordinates and interesting-looking figures. There is a small dot on Japan where I believe Tokyo is located.
So what's the point of this? I ask myself. Maybe you have to... move the dot?
I frown in consideration and after a moment, I move the dot.
Or at least I try to. There's no computer mouse and the screen isn't a touch screen.
Maybe the TARDIS controls? I shake that thought away, there's no reason for a game to be played by the TARDIS controls. Unless... unless the Doctor created this game to help me learn the TARDIS's controls and she's watching to see how well I do like an evaluation or something and this entire thing is just to help me learn to fly a time machine-
I stop that thought process to grasp a lever in my hand and pull it. Hard.
The dot on the screen moves around a lot, it even moves off of Earth. Out of the solar system. The galaxy. Where is the dot going? Oh there. The dot finally lands on a planet that seems really far away from where I am now. Hmm...
Maybe this is to see whether I can take the TARDIS long distances and bring her back?
I sigh to myself and shake my head in amusement. I should really just stop messing around with the controls. But then how do I get the dot back onto Earth?
I pull the lever again in hopes that it would take the dot back to Earth. Instead, the dot rushes it's way past another galaxy and lands on yet another planet that I haven't ever seen.
Well, so much for that lever. I try another lever, then a button, then a ball-looking thing that is somehow attached to the TARDIS. All of those keep the dot moving in other places than where I want it to go.
In desperation I pull a pulley and watch as the dot goes to another place I don't know.
Looking back, I should've known what it was. I was in too much of a hurry to get the dot back to Japan before the Doctor and Tibby came back that I didn't recognize what kind of spaceship that was.
I pull another lever and nothing happens. Nothing until I hear the familiar sound of the TARDIS's engines turning.
No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
This is bad. I need to return the TARDIS back to Earth, to the Doctor.
The TARDIS lands. I'm half afraid to step outside and see what's waiting for me. I remember the Doctor once told me that the TARDIS only takes her where she's needed the most.
If that's true then she and Tibby are needed most in Japan and I am needed wherever this is.
As if on cue, the TARDIS doors open and a bunch of rough-looking humanoid beings step into the console room. I was about to scold them on barging into a blue telephone box that isn't theirs when another being steps into the room. Instead of being rough and manly this person radiates warmth, kindness, and looks female.
"So the legends are true, you have come when we need you most, Doctor." She? he? it? said to me.
I blink once and put on a facial expression that I hope says "yes, yes I am the Doctor and I have come to help" unfortunately I think it ended up looking more like a "pleasehelpmeidontknowwhatimdoingaugh" face due to the being's reaction.
I ditch the facial expression category and step forward to introduce myself as the Doctor. I was always better with words than expressions, especially lies.
"Yes, hello, I am the Doctor. What do you need help with?" I say in a really convincing tone. By really convincing, I mean really convincing.
The dudes instantly stand at what I recognize as an "attention" stance before bowing to me and getting down on one knee in a sign of respect.
I must look a bit overwhelmed because the other being in front of me smiled and bowed in respect.
"So what exactly did I do to get everyone to bow at me?" I ask in a confused manner.
The being in front of me stands back up and looks me in the eyes. "You do not remember?"
"Uhh... of course whatever I did may have been in my future, after all, I am a time-traveler." I respond.
"Oh, that's right." Her eyes widen in understanding as she nods at my reasoning. "Your TARDIS does look different from last time."
"Soooo... do you mind telling me what's going on?" I question her. When did I start thinking of that being as a female???
"Oh, yes, of course." She stutters a bit. "You see, a few decades ago you saved our species from being completely destroyed when the star our planet orbited came close to the end of its life."
Stars... at the end of their life they expand and become huge, engulfing planets close to it... their planet must have been close...
"But you see, we don't know where we are or where we're going. Plus, we're running out of the supplies that are necessary for us to survive. Our species will be wiped out if we do not find a planet to live on and soon, please, we need your help!" She pleads to me, her eyes shining with desperation.
So this is why the TARDIS brought me here. "Of course I'll help you." I confidently tell her with a small smile.
~~~
Yes, that's it for today and yes, I do have plans for where this is going... sort of.
The next chapter will be with Tibby and what she and the Doc are doing in Japan. This little adventure will focus on both groups, Tibby and the Doc and Maggie by herself.
I have a half-formed plan as to what's going to happen and I have an almost-fully-formed plan as to how the two sides of the story will line up.
Okaye, well then. That's done and off the bucket list (again).
Thanks for all the support and yeah.
(P.S. plz don't get into anime/manga, it's way too addicting)
(P.P.S. if you are looking for anime recommendations then I would suggest starting with a completed anime like Death Note or Blue Exorcist cuz those don't take that long to finish and are great)
(P.P.P.S. ciao)
