Chapter Twelve: On Our Very First Date

Angel.  

Quietly, I watched intently as All Time Low continued with their practice. This past week has consisted of me coming with them to watch them practice after school. As usual, they were doing amazing. I know, I should be staying away from Alex but.... I just, I love watching them practice. I love how they all play as if they were all actually preforming in front of a large crowd. It's absolutely amazing.  

After they finished practicing the song 'The Party Scene', Rian asked me how I thought they did. As usual, I told them they did amazing. I'm not just saying that to be nice, that's how I honestly feel. Their performances always seem to impress me every time I watch them. They're amazing.  

As they were putting away their instruments, Alex began walking towards me. "Hey Angel." He greeted, "I was wondering... if maybe tomorrow, you'd wanna go out and hang out for a little while." He said, scratching the back of his neck.  

I bit my tongue and simply nodded in response. "Sounds like fun." I smiled.  

Alex grinned, "Yeah, I'll pick you up tomorrow around noon. Just text me your address or something." He said, his smile never faltering. I nodded in agreement before saying goodbye to everyone. I left the Barakat residence and started towards the direction of my house.

I woke up the next morning to the sound of music playing from my phone. I picked up the phone from my nightstand and saw that I had an unread message from Alex.  

Alex: Hey, what's your address? I'll be there to pick you up in an hour or so, we're going somewhere special.  

Smiling, I sent him my address before placing my phone back on my nightstand. Swinging my legs over the edge of my bed, I slowly got up and started towards my bathroom. I had an hour until Alex came to pick me up but really, an hour is all I need.  

After taking a quick shower, I decided on just wearing a gray jacket, ripped, black skinny jeans and my gray converse. I don't wear make up so I didn't need to worry about that and lastly, I tied my hair into a side braid and pulled my gray beanie over it.  

I walked into the kitchen where -as usual- I found my mother staring blankly out the window. She was mumbling things under her breath but they were inaudible. Walking towards her, I wrapped my arms around her torso and gently hugged her. She didn't hug back.... not like I was expecting anything else. 

"I'm going to hang out with my friend, Alex, today. I'll be back home later. Por favor, come algo (Please, eat something)." I sighed, before gently kissing her cheek. I unwrapped my arms around her and started towards the doorway. Stepping outside into the cool air, I felt a small smile tug on my lips once I saw Alex pull into our driveway.  

"Hey." He greeted as he stepped out of his car. I didn't know Alex had a car so I was honestly surprised when he told me he would be picking me up. I waved in response before shyly pulling Alex into a friendly hug. Wait.... isn't this considered a date? ....No, Alex is probably just trying to be friendly.

"Where are we going?" I asked as I sat in the passenger's seat.  

Alex grinned widely, "Well...." He began, "I thought we could go get something to eat, get to know each other a little bit more and then... I want to show you something special to me." He stated before starting the car and pulling out of the driveway. You said nothing but nodded in understanding. Alex began fiddling with the radio until he finally decided in just playing the album 'Take Off Your Pants & Jacket'.
