to the blue eyed boy who sits at the library
everyday after school;

i have never felt so entertained than when I watch you drown in books
how your eyes so quickly skim the page
how your fingers trace the words like dancing feathers
and you stop at certain words to feel them.

and it saddens me so
how I will never get to sink deep into the blues of your eyes
and look at them long enough before it is deemed creepy.

how I wish to hear your voice speak my name
how my insides would shatter like glass
before you speak again and crush what's left of them;
you are oblivious to the control you have on me.

how I wish to roam the chambers of your heart
and study the constellations that hold you together;
every diamond star wedged in between your broken pieces,
patched up with glue and stardust.

but I can't ask you, and you won't tell me
for you've no clue of even my name;
how I wish to erase you from my mind
but you've marked your spot with permanent markers.

so the thought of you comes so naturally
and you grow a garden of butterflies that fly
from my stomach to my lungs
watered by stolen glances and rarely exchanged smiles.

how I wish to know of the things that break you and make you
of the words you keep coming back to
of the glue that holds those stars together;
I wish to know her name.

one day you stopped reading ,
the words no longer traced and the pages no longer turned;
the words only looked empty in your eyes
and i wonder how they would taste if I read them to you.

I cannot slay the dragon that breathes fire into your blood
nor can I extinguish the flames that seethes inside you
but I can grow flowers instead
that spread ichor to your veins.

and perhaps it will soothe you, perhaps it'll hold you better than glue
but with time the flowers will wilt, so how can I water them
when I don't know my own voice nor will I ever hear of yours
because I can't hear anything, and you don't have one.

but I can hear you in the silence,
I see you in the dark,
which is more than enough for you
to ignite a spark.
