It was exhilarating, every pulse throbbing against my skin like animals against a cage and I begin to wonder if I've been containing too much of myself lately
Trapping too many words in my throat till what is left is a tangled chain of sentences I cannot untie
My mind continues to buzz, words bouncing off of every corner
I want to say it back. I want to say it back.
And when my tongue finally adapts to this strange flavor, a bittersweet tanginess it cannot recognize,
It hangs, like an unwelcome visitor begging to stay the night but I know that if I let him in, there will be no way out
If I let him in, I would be kicking myself out
It was exhilarating, but I'm sorry I couldn't say it back
