you are a fairytale
magic filling the holes of your heart
that have been poked by the stakes
of your own words.
how beautifully sad.
how I'd like to sweep your demons
off their feet with your
magic broom.
and oh, Cinderella
can't you see the flowers
that grow in your head?
hurry now, they're almost dead.
oh, Cinderella
how I wish to sweep
those thoughts off of your
beautiful, magical mind.
oh, Cinderella
can't you see you're killing them?
your flowers are wilting
and water is not filling.
oh, Cinderella
the world is growing duller
if you'd just bleed a little
to show us some color.
you are a rainbow
clear after the dark skies
and the bitter rain;
the cure after the unremitting pain.
oh, Cinderella
look, now you've lost your shoe
while looking for your Prince Charming
your time is overdue.
oh, Cinderella
your mascara tears
have been staining your porcelain cheeks
for what seemed to be weeks.
oh, Cinderella
is he not what
you thought him to be?
oh Ella, how naive of thee.
oh, Cinderella
take off these cuffs
that bind your petite waist;
a kind of self-love you cannot embrace.
oh, Cinderella
your body is screaming
why do you ignore it so?
you are losing your glow.
oh, Cinderella
if only you could see
you are a fairytale,
set yourself free.
