It's okay to feel a little sad sometimes; you don't owe the world anything.

****

1.  the morning skies are a mixture of shades you can't find a name for
even though you swear you can tell between iris and mauve.

2. you painted your room a burnt orange
dyed your heart a lemon yellow
drenched your insides in azure

3. because your world was not bright enough
but scarlet red still seeped from your pores
a shade you could never quite contain
too bold for the candescent paradise
you carefully constructed inside your veins

4. now your fingers are shaking
and you're unable to stop the bleeding
put a pause to the scarlet staining your luminous walls

5. you frantically layer a lemon chiffon over what you can only call a catastrophe
little could you see how well it blended with your salmon cheeks

6. oh, how your lemon yellow heart is starting to chip
your azure lungs are wearing out
but you've already drenched the world in all your colors

7. layer upon layer of pretense has faded
left you exposed and raw;
your pores are spilling secrets
the world is yet to hear

8. now you don't belong in your own candescent paradise
and the candescent people you've created are recoiling in fear

9. and so you end up staining the world in your brash red
but only then did you see how well it blended with their sapphire hearts

10. only then did you see how well indigo fit into your spectrum
only then did you realize that no paint would ever recreate the spectrum that you are
