Layla Wilkes

As soon as we got home from my game, I ate my food that we got from Five Guys then took a shower. After that I went to the kitchen with hopes to find something sweet which I did and as I sat eating my ice cream, Sasha came into the kitchen.

"So Chris cut himself today?" She asks me in an unconvinced tone after a few minutes of us sitting in silence. "Doubt it."

"That's what I said right, Sasha?" I say back. "Leave me alone."

"Don't act like you're six just cause I asked you a question. You may have fooled mommy and daddy, but I'm not stupid."

"I never said you were stupid," I roll my eyes. "But what I am saying is mind your business. Sound doable?"

Sasha rolls her eyes in response then says, "Ya know... this boy really is changing you."

"What?" I furrow my eyebrows at her. "How?"

"Well first you skipped school with him and now you're not only lying to our parents for him, but you're lying to me."

"It's not even a big deal Sasha, leave it be."

"For what? For you to keep lying for him until those lies become something bigger? Don't be stupid, Layla."

I huff hard as hell and just stare at her.

She's making this something way bigger than what it actually is. Big whoop. I skipped my last two periods of school, but it wasn't the first time I'd skipped whether she knows that or not. Then for the lying bit, it's not like I've never lied to my parents before. So has she, but it's not any of her concern anyways so why does she care so much? Plus, Chris didn't even tell me to lie. I took it upon myself to do that, so she doesn't even know what she's talking about.

"Sasha mind your business. Thank you." I try dismissing the conversation and I sit my bowl and spoon in the sink planning to just leave the kitchen, but of course she has something else to say.

"So you're not denying that you lied?"

"It's not a big deal! Can you chill!?" I raise my voice a little at her, but that doesn't faze her. Not even a little bit.

Why can't she just leave me and everything involving me alone? I'm good. Don't worry about me, damn.

"Tell me what really happened."

I stare at her for a second trying to see if she's being serious and she is. Why do I have to have such a nosey sister??

"Is it even important?" I ask her.

She looks back at me with a straight face before speaking up. "If you don't want for me to tell on you, it is."

I squint my eyes at her because I can't even believe the words coming out of her mouth. I literally told one small lie just so that my parents wouldn't think Chris was some hood nigga for fighting, especially since it was Carter, but Sasha, my one and only sister, won't let me off the hook this one time. I swear if we weren't blood sisters I'd mollywhop the fuck out of her.

"You know that I hate you, right?" I stare at her.

"And I know that you know that I do not care. Now tell me the story."

I sigh hard but sit back down to speak to her for a second.

"Chris and Carter fought today," I get right to it. If I'm gonna tell her, I might as well just make it quick and get straight to the point.

I already feel like she's not gonna like Chris because of this since she loves Carter. Even if I tell her all that Carter did to deserve what he got, she won't side with Chris. In her eyes, when it comes to me it's Carter over everything, I guess, but maybe that's because that's the only person who she really knows.
