I woke up to the sound of talking. I sat up and rubbed my eyes. Am and Susan sat on Susan's bed talking. I was actually gonna go back to sleep but Alex hit my face with a pillow.
"Wake up, sleepy head!!" She bellowed.
I groaned and threw mine at her.
Alex raised her pillow and paused. She sniffed the air.
I smelt it too. Pancakes!!
I practically jumped out of bed and headed to my bag to get a new set of clothes and a towel.
Alex was running around mumbling about her toothbrush.
I didn't wait to listen.
---------------
Mmmmmm. The pancakes were absolutely delish!
Anyway, We'd finished our breakfast and then headed out to Larry's car after telling our parents where we were going. I was wearing my purple panda T-shirt with dark jeans.
Alex was into super bright colours. Now she was wearing a bright yellow shirt with jeans.
Susan was busy smoothing her pink dress.
My brothers just wore T-shirts and jeans.
We weren't planning on taking a dip but I guess Am was keen on a picnic judging from the basket she kept on her lap.
We finally got to the woods. It was a ten minutes hike into the woods to the falls. I hate trekking but it was so worth it when we got to the clearing where the falls were.
It was beautiful! The actual falls were a little way in. The clearing had soft sand on the ground. The water from the bubbling falls formed a small pond. OK, so the 'falls' wasn't really big.
I helped Am get the blankets spread on the sand and looked up again. Sunlight filtered through the leaves ahead and created a calm effect. Except it wasn't calm. With Alex and Robin? It would never be calm with them around.
I saw Susan and Am playing near the water. Alex stood on top of a huge boulder like Tarzan. And me?
I was skipping from one slippery stone to another like a fairy. No... a faun.
Mountain goat?
I was just thinking about which creature seemed appropriate, when I slipped.
I hit the ice cold water with a loud splash. Weird how my entire body tensed even before I slipped. It was like my brain went 'LOOK OUT FOR THAT *SPLASH* slippery spot...'
I felt something grab my leg and the next moment I was out of the pond. My brain was confused already. The ground looked so blue... Wait a minute.... I looked up (down, when you think about it) and saw Larry's grinning face.
He was holding me up by my feet, UPSIDE DOWN!!
Robin was standing a few feet away. He stopped, stared and then burst out laughing. I crossed my arms across my chest and rolled my eyes heavenward (Earthward... Ah, you get it)
I looked down/up/ whatever at Larry again.
"Can you put me down please?"
Alex looked like she wanted a turn.
-------------
We were at the falls till one in the afternoon. We picnicked and listened to birds. Alex climbed a tree. Robin called her a monkey. Alex threw fruit at him.
I, uh, accidentally pushed Robin into the water. No, it was not on purpose. He was just standing there... with his back to me... facing the pond... I may have patted, ok punched, alright pushed at his shoulder and the next thing I know *SPLASH*.
