I checked the Facebook notifications on my phone while Robin and Alex fumed.

"That guy is the limit!" I heard Robin say as I liked my best friend, Katie's, profile picture.

We were sitting in granmama's tidy living room. Framed black and white pictures of granpapa and the rest of the family adorned the walls. A coffee table sat in the middle of the room and right now all my cousins were seated at odd angles on the deep maroon sofas.

"Just who does he think he is?" Alex demanded.

"He isn't always like this" Larry defended softly "He's just a little excited about the case."

"Of course, he is, Lar." Robin drawled in a perfect Robert Dean imitation.

I looked up from my phone to give him a grin.

Larry narrowed his eyes at Robin. Trust him to support a friend even if he was the most annoying idiot on the planet!

"So... about the case... shouldn't we do some investigating?" Larry asked.

He was distracting us of course. We all knew that. Larry was so readable but we still jumped at the opportunity.

"We shall begin this very moment!" Robin stated dramatically.

"Hear, hear!" his sister called from on top of a cupboard.

That girl could not sit in one place.

"I think Larry should be in charge" Susan said.

We all agreed.

"Hmm... well then let's get started" Larry said smiling.

"One moment!" I yelled turning the face-camera on my phone on.

"Ooh picture!" Alex squealed and jumped off the cupboard.

Susan fussed with her hair, Am cuddled Sasha on her lap, Alex pushed Larry to the side, Robin propped his elbows on my head and posed while Larry adjusted my phone to get everyone in the same frame. I rolled my eyes at Robin as my phone's shutter clicked. I smiled taking my phone from Larry's long hand. This picture was definitely going on Facebook.

"Larry" I heard Robin say "what say Violet and I go see stuck up face and get him to tell us something important?"

"Stuck-up face?" Larry asked confused.

I sighed. We all knew Robin was talking about Robert. Larry could be so dumb sometimes!

"Robert, man" I clarified for him "He means Robert."

"Oh. Alright. Susan and I will go ask Mr. Sam , our neighbour, what happened. Alex and Amethyst... I really don't know."

"We'll go ask granmama about all those recent burglaries she told us about." Am's quiet voice said.

"Yeah, we didn't listen properly last time anyway." Alex agreed.

"Okay," I said getting off the sofa and straightening my purple top. "We'll be right back."

Robin skipped over to the door waiting for me. We made our way out together and walked over to the door of the house next to us. We knocked on the door and waited. A pleasant faced man opened the door.

* * * *

Robin and I walked down the narrow street. Mr. Sam, who had been the person who had opened the door, had given us directions to the cottage Robert had rented at the village. Now we were both walking down the small street, more like a path, to stuck-up face's cottage. Sasha trotted between Robin and me as though separating me from Ed. Lord Ed seemed to understand that he got on Sasha's nerves when he was near me because he made it a point to fly beside me or perch on my shoulder. I was slowly getting used to his claws biting at my shoulder.

Trees lined both sides of the path we were on. It was very shady and cool. There were no vehicles or noises around.

I walked, staring at the beautiful clear blue in the middle of the lush gorgeous green of the leaves I could see. I was pretty sure I had a goofy smile on my face as I enjoyed the calm effect of nature around me.

That was until Robin jerked me to a stop by tugging at my ponytail.

"Ow, WHAT WAS THAT FOR?" I snapped.

"We're here, genius." Robin said amused.

Oh.

He pointed to a small red brick cottage. It had a small garden around it and a white picket fence as well. Somehow the thought of stuck-up face staying in a place like this tickled me. Robin seemed to think it was funny too. We both grinned as Robin opened the small white gate. We walked to the door and knocked.

OK, OK. I know this chapter is very small but it's because the next one is going to be really long and I really don't feel like typing at the moment. School's started and I have a ton of homework to do.

Ah well, *sniff* I'm ignoring a heap of homework to type this. *sniff*

My noble soul...

Anyway, It's nice to know you guys are reading but a few votes and comments would be really appreciated! Thanks!
