I opened my eyes and groaned.
Why?
Why did Am have to leave the curtains open?
Why?!?
Maybe she wasn't as sweet as I thought... -.-
Hello?! Person trying to sleep-in here!
Sunlight filtered through the windows. The distant sound of a tractor's engine carried all the way into my room. I sat up and rubbed my eyes.
The aroma of grilled chicken and mango chutney wafted into the room and that's all it took to get me running to my closet to pull out something to wear.

"Violet!" my cousins greeted me when I joined them at the breakfast table.
"Good morning!" I called back as I sat down to one of granmama's delicious beakfast.
Larry was telling everyone about how he'd woken up in the middle of the night and found Robin's bed empty. He'd had to find Robin trying to open the front door with a hairpin since he hadn't been able to find the key!
Larry shook his head as we all laughed. Robin raised his hands in acknowledgement.
"Kids," My dad called as he walked over to us. "Granmama will be at home. The rest of us are going down to see her farm. Are you coming?"
We glanced at each other.
"I... no, uncle." Larry spoke for all of us. "We'd much rather stay here with granmama."
"Suit yourselves." was all my dad said.
Our parents left an hour later, the moms armed with cameras.
Am, Susan and I finished the dishes and raced to our room. Alex and Robin were trying to find out who could bounce the highest. Alex was presently bouncing up and down on my bed wrecking my pillow and comforter in the process. Robin had Susan's bed and was bouncing up and down with determination and gusto.
Susan and I each grabbed a comforter and pulled. Robin and Alex went down with an 'Oomph' and sat up to complain.
"Quiet down, you guys." Larry said from where he stood, leaning against the door frame. "The thief didn't strike last night. I just enquired."
"The police scared him away?" I suggested.
"Maybe." was all Larry said.
Robin got up and cleared his throat.
"Let's search."
"For what?" His sister asked.
"For the other casket. Duh!" Robin said. "Granmama told us that the casket was somewhere in this very house."
I was torn between hunting around the house for treasure or just sitting here and letting my breakfast digest.
Alex, of course, jumped up.
"Let's do it!"
"Just let me fix my hair." That was Susan.
"You look fine, squirt."
And with that Robin steered Susan out the door with Am and Alex trailing behind.
I looked over at Larry.
He was sitting on the carpeted floor, drumming his fingers on Alex's desk, his expression thoughtful.
"You go on, sis." He said, suddenly noticing me "I'll catch up in a while."
