"Rock, paper, scissors!"

I sat on my bed, in the room I shared with Susan, Am and Alex. It was very spacious but carpeted and cozy. There were four beds. Two against one wall and two against another. We'd decided to unpack tomorrow. We were all in our pyjamas.

Alex and Susan were playing 'stone, paper, scissors' to find out who'd get the last cookie. I smiled. Alex could get really childish sometimes. Susan was no better.

Grandmama had sent us to our rooms with a plate of cookies, half an hour ago. Right after the burglar incident.

Alex and Susan finally decided to take half a cookie each and looked at the last cookie on the plate. Except there was no cookie there. They both snapped their heads around to look at me.

I looked around the room, the most innocent look on my face. Ooh, was that a new coat of paint?

"VIOLET!!" Both of them yelled making their way over to me.

I laughed and grabbed a pillow for defence and that's how an epic pillow fight began.

Ten minutes later, we were all lying on our backs laughing. Just when Susan took her comb to brush her hair, Alex turned out the lights.

"Hey!" Susan protested but stopped when she saw Alex pull out a flashlight from her bag.

She positioned it under her face and began to tell us a scary story. Except it wasn't scary, it was hilarious! Alex's facial expressions were so funny, she had our rapt attention.

We were laughing so loud, I was afraid someone would hear us.

"So what did the werewolf say?" Alex asked.

"Awooooo!!" Susan howled obediently.

I rolled my eyes and signalled for her to shut up.

Susan, obviously, didn't get it.  But soon Alex took the story seriously and it really did get scary. She finished the story and we all clapped. It was good.

I got off of her bed and headed across the room to mine. I heard a noise outside our room door and jumped. I was still on edge from the final scene of Alex's story. Looks like I wasn't the only one. Susan, Alex and Am all had fear in their eyes. It was silly but my heart began to beat really hard in my chest.

Alex walked over to the door and pressed her ear to it.

"Someone's outside." She whispered, her face half-hidden in the dark of the room.

The way she said it only got me more scared.

Alex grabbed a huge dictionary that was next to her and slowly opened the door. Am snapped out of the confusion.

"Alex, remember what happened after dinner?" She cautioned, reminding us about the whole burglar accident.

"Al...' before I could say anything more, Alex was out the door.

I ran after her and entered the dark corridor outside our room just in time to hear a thud and a groan.

From the light filtering out the room, I could see Alex with her hands over her mouth. I caught the glimpse of a person sprawled on the floor. I froze. No way. Wha...?

I heard a muffled giggle from Alex and knew right away that this was some accident. I walked over to the figure on the floor and was only slightly surprised to see Robin. Sigh. I mentally face palmed myself and then helped a dazed Robin into our room. I sat him down on a chair as Susan and Am came to stand next to me.

"Alright. Who hit me on the head?" He went.

"Sorry, bro." Alex said, still smiling.

Robin just scratched his head, obviously confused.

"What were you doing, walking around in the middle of the night?" I asked.

"This may sound stupid. But I was investigating."

I cocked an eyebrow. "Uh huh?"

Robin raised his hands. "Really!"

"I heard these weird noises" he said.

Oops.

"They sounded close. I was already creeping out what with Larry snoring..."

Am and I laughed.

Robin frowned. "I'm being serious!"

Susan told him the whole spooky stories thing and Robin smiled. "Oh!"

Robin was a good sport.

"'Night then, you guys!" He said before leaving the room.

I got into bed like everyone else. I lay there thinking of the entire day. I got a hollow feeling, the kind you get when you feel like all the excitement over.

That's when I realised that the fun wasn't over. Hah, not by a long shot! It was just getting started.

We were going to clearwaters tomorrow! I felt my eyelids close and gave in after laughing my 'maniac laugh', sure I'd creeped Susan out.

That, ladies and gentlemen, was chapter 4.

Until the next chapter,

Teenikel. :)
