A/N: Yay!! I finally got time to put the next chapter!
Oh no, I have exams coming up soon.
*groan* I really DO NOT feel like studying again. (Not that I did the last time but my tests just got over!)
Finals already?!?
Chapter 19!
I uncapped my new blue pen.
Poising it over the front page, I tried to think of things to write. Several things came to mind but I decided to wait till everyone showed up.
It had been two days since Rayne broke out of jail. We'd been jumping back and forth between vacationing and investigating.
I looked over at Alex. She was sunk into her rolling chair, one hand placed dramatically over her heart. I rolled my eyes.
"What?" I asked, my tone wary.
"Too many... I read too many classics..."
I raised an eyebrow. "Who asked you to read old classics?"
Alex shook her head dramatically, "Granmama loves classics. She was showing me her recent favourites. On a whim, I told her I'd love to read anything that she loved to read too. She got so excited! She lent me five books, Vy! FIVE BOOKS!! They were huge and the print was so small!"
I laughed, "So that's why you've been reading the entire time these few days."
Alex continued like I hadn't spoken, her eyes glazed over like she'd gone mad, "I had to read a paragraph ten times to understand. What did they do? Write in Latin? Would it kill them to cut out the drama once in a while."
"I personally like the old classics."
"Don't say anything," she hised at me.
I closed my mouth trying hard to keep the corners of my mouth from lifting.
Robin sauntered into the room.
"Hey," I greeted, "What happened?"
"We struck gold. So many leads! Clues all over the place!! You-"
"Didn't find anything, did you?"
"No." He sighed.
"This case is beginning to get boring." I said.
"Yeah. Something will turn up though. That's what Robert said."
"You called him Robert!" I pointed at Robin and half screamed, "No insulting names!!"
"He has a name, Okay?" Robin defended in an exact Robert impersonation that I had to laugh.
Robin caught sight of his sister muttering something under her breath.
He raised an eyebrow at me.
I shrugged with a smile, enjoying the look of panic on the older brother's face.
He walked over.
"Hey, sis. How are you doing?"
"How am I doing what?"
I stifled a laugh.
Alex slapped her forehead, snapping out of her thoughts. "Oh, I'm good, thanks. Sorry. Been reading books like Emma and Pride and prejudice. Only just stopped thinking with twenty letter words."
Robin and I laughed. "Seriously?"
Alex smiled, "You have no idea. Susan came upto me and said ''Sup?' and I was like 'A burger and fries not too long ago. And you? What did you eat?'
