Yay!! We're on the 24th chapter already. I know I've said it before but thanks for sticking with me. :)

Sasha and I took our evening stroll. It was 8 :00. We'd just finished dinner and stepped out of the house. I'd missed my little dog a lot these past few days.

"Beautiful night, huh, Sash?"

She barked her agreement.

We walked down the street. The stars seemed brighter than they did in the city.

Mavadi was about three blocks big anyway. I smiled thinking about how close knit this town was.

I pushed my hand into my pocket and felt my purse.

"How about we get everyone dessert at the town's bakery?" I asked.

My dog barked a 'yes'.

We rounded the corner and kept walking.

We passed a few more houses and finally reached the little shop. I pushed the glass door open with my hand and heard the jingle of the bell overhead.

The door swung back closed as Sasha and I walked to the glass display cabinet where all the pastries were kept.

"Well, well, well, who is this?"

A wizened old man with kind chocolate brown eyes walked up to me, behind the counter.

My expression changed from that of joy to shock when I saw him.

What I'd expected was a bubbly greeting from a plump brown haired Pete, not the same Pete looking twenty years older.

His eyes crinkled when he smiled, "We all grow old, little one."

Great!

I wanted to bang my head on the counter. How could I have just stared outright like that?

Old Pete laughed, "You sure have grown into a beautiful young lady."

I grinned.

"Where's young Alex?"

"She's at home."

"She used to bring you over when you were a kid. You both had the biggest sweet-tooths I ever saw!"

I laughed.

Memories...

Wish I had them. Oh well...

This was definitely the Pete who'd given us his yummy candy treats free for every cream pastry.

Being James sir's grand kids had it's perks. Not that we ever used it of course. Alex and I were just that adorable.

"And how is my little chocolate?"

I smiled up at him, "I'm great! Thanks for asking."

"What would you like, little one? I'm sure you came by to buy something. Or was it just to me?"

I swear, how do you answer something like that?

He laughed. "Tell me which candy you'd like today."

I smiled at a memory, "Your special caramel and honey chips."

He laughed, filled with joy that I still remembered.

"Will you wait a few moments?"

"Of course."

"Enough for the entire clan, I suppose."

I giggled at how he described my gang of cousins.

"Yes."

"Oh and add an extra one for Robert." I added.
