GUYS THIS STORY IS TERRIBLE DON'T READ IT!!! Instead read the rewrite called Dawn of Vengence. This story will stay up but I'm not continuing with the sequeal. SORRY!!!!!
It was a dark night in downtown Los Angeles. In the alley between Johnson's Department Store and the LA Drugstore, a young man with black hair and piercing blue eyes emerged from the shadows wiping his lips with the back of his hand.
"Dammit," he said "There's never any good prey in these cities. I miss the old days when they humans actually fought back."
A male voice came from behind him. "Why don't you try seeing me as prey bloodsucker," it said "I'm sure I'll give you a decent fight."
A gunshot rang throughout the night, echoing off the buildings, as a large bullet hole appeared where the vampire was standing just a moment before. The gunman whirled around just in time to see a large dumpster coming at him, sending him flying into the empty street.
"Dammit," yelled the gunman reaching for his pistol-which had been knocked out of his hand after being slammed into the concrete, and was now laying far beyond his reach, "That was a dirty trick vampire."
"So you're saying sneaking up on someone who had just finished eating, isn't a dirty trick at all," asked the vampire who was now standing over the gunman, "Honestly I would've expected better from a Saint. Even one as young as yourself."
"Coming from someone who uses hypnosis," said the young Saint "Getting lectured about dirty tricks seems a little hypocritical don't you think so?"
"That's an interesting argument but Saints as young as you should-" the vampire began, but was cut off by another gunshot. Clutching it's side, the vampire fled to the safty of another alley.
Cursing himself the Saint boy got up and brushed off his pants, "Cutting your entrance a little close weren't you Father Matthew," said the Saint boy regarding a taller man in long robes, ans was carrying a pistol identical to his own.
"For God's sake Jacob if you still can't handle a single vampire by yourself, you'll never be able to go on solitary missions," said Father Matthew.
"And who's to say that I want to go on missions by myself," asked Jacob brushing off his jacket. "After all, aren't you the one whose always telling me I need someone to watch my back? I'd like to think you've been doing a great job of that Father."
"Yes I suppose you're right," Father Matthew said with a sigh as he holstered his pistol, and stepped into the illumination of a street light revealing a full head of gray hair. "However my son. I will not be around forever to watch you back. In fact I fear that I'm not long for this world, and you have yet to fully become a Saint."
To that Jacob had nothing to say. He hated when Father Matthew talked about death this way. Because though he'd never admit it, Jacob couldn't bear the thought of being in a world without Father Matthew. Even though he was a grouch of an old man. Always fiding something wrong in whatever Jacob was doing.
"Come now Jacob let's get back to the Church," said Father Matthew "My eyes aren't what they used to be, that vampire won't die from a wound like that. I for one don't want to be around here when he decides to return."
And with that Father Matthew turned and began walking down the road, pausing only briefly to see if Jacob was following. With a last glance back where he and the vampire were he turned to follow Father Matthew.
