Lance and Terry were racing through the sky right behind Issac, Will, and another werewolf named Ken whom Lance still didn't trust very much. Lance's eyes were swollen and burning from fresh tears, he hadn't meant to cry but he just couldn't help it. It was as if an outside force was compelling him to grieve, although he hadn't known Merrick that long he was still Lance's leader as well as the Maria's dad. Lance couldn't help but think about how the news would devastate Maria, besides Louis her grandfather Merrick was the only family that she had, and Lance had to tell her what happened.
"Hey Lance if you don't mind me asking," Terry began snapping Lance from his internal struggle. "Why is it that we're following the guy who from my understanding, nearly killed you back in LA?"
"Good question," Lance said without turning, admittedly he'd thought the same thing. "I'm not sure really, but the way I see it what choice do we really have? He's the only one who knows where we remotely are. On top of that Will's riding with him."
"Yeah about that who is that kid," Terry asked sounding sincerely curious. "He some sort of prince to you or something?"
"No, but he doesn't have a family," Lance said in a grim voice. "They were killed by vampires."
"Well than mind explaining to me why he told that one vampire to go and warn his father?" Terry asked sounding very confused and admittedly Lance was confused by this as well. That is however until he saw that mark burning on his forehead.
"My guess is he's been hexed," Lance said in a matter-of-fact way and finally looked back at the 'human' sitting behind him. "It's something witches can do to people. Force memories into someone's mind, you'll be able to do it too once you learn more about your powers."
"Yeah ain't I a little old for that?"
"Not at all there are people in their sixties that receive training about their powers," Lance said knowing this from Elaine's constant blabbing about her witch training, and how she was quite young to begin training. "You're about the right age for the training to start, but it's ultimately your choice whether you wanna do it or just let your powers freak out. Unlike us werewolves, vampires, and other Beings, you witches can choose to walk away from your path."
"What do you mean," Terry asked sound suddenly very alarmed. "You mean I could lose my power?"
"Well not on your own, you'd have to give it to another witch," Lance said struggling to recall what Elaine told him. "But I'm a werewolf I don't really know that much about the process. I have a fried that you can talk to when this is all done."
"That's if we're still alive cub," Ken's voice interrupted. This startled Lance as he'd just now noticed that Issac had pulled up beside them, and Lance noticed that Issac's face looked paler than usual and he seemed to be worried about something. Will however was still unconscious on the seat in front of Ken. "Sorry to spoil your little positive gathering here but we did just lose someone. I wouldn't be too sure that we're all going to make it through this. whatever the hell it is that you guys got me caught up in."
"Well you know we're not forcing you to stay," Lance snapped at the older werewolf. For some reason Lance felt a slight hostility to Ken, maybe it had to do with his instinct not to be the omega, and Ken was another werewolf so some territorial issues might have caused it also. Whatever the reason Ken wasn't high on Lance's list of favorite people. "We only brought you along because Terry asked us to."
"And I'm oh so thankful for that," Ken said sarcastically but shot Terry a look and lance saw that there was some silent communication going on. "And as for you not forcing me to stay is true enough. The eight-hundred foot drop however is keeping me here so just simmer down there...cub."
