Isla's POV

One good thing happened.
The lights are now on.
The power is back.
Mean while, I was still feeling a little left in the dark.
"What the hell just happened?" I slide down to the floor and lay there face first.
Daniel was engaged! Why would he kiss me on the forehead? I wished he aimed lower but... Stop getting distracted!
Was he feeling like I was? Totally, inevitably in love? Were all the feelings he left with still there?
Too many thoughts were going through my head and I groaned.
"I would also, like to know what happened. I mean you never slump to the ground face first without a decent reason." Being the great best friend she is, Jenna joins me on the floor.
Her red hair spilled around her and her green eyes stared at me.
"After you went out with Trevor and apparently tied his shoes," I scoff at that. "Me and Daniel were still in our room. He asked me out to lunch and I said yes. When he asked me where, I said surprise me. Then, you'll never believe it but he said exactly this:
"'Anything for you, princess.' And kissed my forehead! I am legitimately freaking out right now! I mean what did he mean when he kissed my forehead!"
I start to ramble and Jenna slaps the back of my head. "You need to start by slowing down taking some deep breaths. This isn't going to start the next World War, so you will be fine,
"You need to realize that Daniel is taken right now, and maybe for his whole life. Even if that little kiss meant something it was probably just friendship. He loves you, just as a friend. But, sister, you and I both know we wish it was for more. And maybe someday it will be."
Jenna helped me get up and stop moping. Everything she said made perfect, logical sense. I couldn't cling and hope for his feelings for me to come back. If I was meant to be with him, someday it would work out.

At work the next day when lunchtime rolled around, I was called back to Daniel's office.
I paused what I was doing and headed out to the elevators. Those who heard that intercom announcement stared. I guess Alyssa wasn't joking when she said not a lot of people got called back to Daniel's office.
It made me feel a little bit special.
I make it out of the elevators and head to the area Daniel works in. Also where my new friend Alyssa works.
She was the one who helped me find Daniel's office the first day I was here.
When I knocked on Daniel's office door, I can hear him talking rapidly to someone. There is a pause and then he continues to talk while he opens the door for me. It is then that I realize he was on the phone.
