The upcoming week passed with nothing important happening. I buried myself in work and I'm guessing so did Daniel.

We didn't see each other but texted and agreed to meet on Friday night.

Every night I went right to sleep because I worked so hard during the day. Jenna made herself microwave dinners which she complained about every night to which I replied with a middle finger.

I got out of work early on Friday and caught a ride home with Alyssa. She agreed to have dinner with me and Jenna.

"Do I get to do your hair and makeup too!" Alyssa was always that one to ask that.

I shake my head. "You wouldn't let me say no, would you?"

She smiles shyly at me.

"I feel bad for neglecting Jenna this week. What should I make for dinner?"

"I just got this new recipe for vegan-"

I stop her at vegan. "You know Jenna wouldn't like that."

Alyssa nods. "You're right. You could always make some pasta?"

I also nod. "Spaghetti it is. I know Jenna will like that and I can make it quickly before leaving to the cafe with Daniel."

"What time is that by the way?"

"Seven o'clock."

Alyssa eyes me as I drive. "Do you already have it planned what you're going to say?"

"I am only taking Daniel back if he apologizes. This whole time I have been chasing him, he deserves to have to chase after me a little bit. Daniel ruined our relationship by trusting some random email. It's going to take a while to rebuild our trust."

"But you still love him?"

I take a deep breath. "If years away from him doesn't make me love him less, I doubt anything else will."

"Jenna!" I yell into our apartment as loud as I can. "I'm home!"

Alyssa follows me but speaks in a normal voice. "We have a time dependant schedule and we can't afford for you to be sleeping!" She pauses. "Again!"

Jenna walks out of her door in a big t shirt and no pants on. Her red hair is literally everywhere and her eyes were dark like a raccoon.

"Another story idea?"

"Netflix binge watching marathon?"

Jenna rubs her eyes. "Both."

Alyssa and I laugh, but Jenna scowls. "I see that you are actually here tonight, Isla. Decide to say hi to your best friend?"

I give Jenna a look. She knows why I kept to myself this week. "I'm making spaghetti," I drag the 'i.'

Jenna immediately brightens and runs back to her room. "Just let me put some pants on!"

Alyssa helped me cook while Jenna watched. I didn't want an explosion before going out.

Jenna told us all about her new book idea. I was surprised to hear that this time it was a romance novel. Usually she stuck to sci-fi genres. To say I was excited was an understatement.

"Let me guess, the two lead characters have been best friends for as long as they can remember, but have been denying their feelings towards each other. Their names sound a lot like Chevor and Trenna?" I smirk.

Jenna glares at me. "You know there's nothing going on between us, right?"

"I expect a wedding invitation in a few years." Alyssa says innocently.
