Isla's POV
~~~
Saturday morning was an unusual one.
A few mornings a year Jenna would wake up before me. Often times it was when she pulled an all nighter working on a story or project.
Jenna trudged into my room and woke me up by pushing me off my bed.
"Ow!"
Jenna looks down at me and I know she was getting me back from when I woke her up with pans. Even though I was woken up harshly, I smile. All I could think about was last night. Everything was at peace in my life. Hopefully it would last.
"Stop smiling and go get me some coffee." She drops some money and change onto my face.
"Ow!" I say once more and then sit up. I give Jenna a look.
She just rolls her eyes. "Please,"
I pat her head when I stand up. "Good job,"
Walking into our bathroom, I get ready pretty fast. Brushing my hair and teeth, putting on some mascara and then slipping on some jeans and a sweater, I was ready to go get some coffee.
As I was slipping on my shoes, Jenna walks in once again. She was wearing sweat pants, her strawberry blonde hair swept into a ponytail. "Alyssa is coming by for a girls night tonight, her idea."
"Sounds good. You want your usual?"
The coffee shop wasn't very far from the apartment, so I decided to walk.
Last night was exactly what I needed. I am glad that Daniel finally decided to trust me and apologize. I should have guessed that Daniel would have my ring.
I twirl the pretty tiara ring around my finger as I wait in line.
"Welcome to Annie's! What would you like today?"
After ordering both me and Jenna's order, I wait by the counter for our drinks. A familiar face walks up to me, someone I never thought I would see again.
"Hey Jax!"
Jax walks up to me slightly nervous. "You're Isla, right?"
I nod.
"From the dinner date?"
"You're the one who just left Alyssa?"
Jax looks like he might run just like he did at dinner, or throw up, but instead he takes a deep breath. "I really am sorry about that. If you see her again will you apologize for me?"
"I think that everyone deserves a second chance, so of course I will!" It might just have been my good mood talking.
Jax smiles and I realize that maybe Alyssa made him out to be something worse than he actually was. Or he was terrible at first impressions.
"What are you doing this Saturday? Any big plans?" I ask him.
Jax just shakes his head. "Ever since I met with Alyssa and couldn't keep up with her vocab, I decided to take some online high school classes. I guess I'll work on those today."
He's gonna need them.
I just smile. "That's great!"
"Hey, I know that dinner went badly and I kinda screwed everything up, but maybe we could hang out?"
We swap numbers and I leave the coffee shop with maybe a new friend and some delicious drinks.
