Eclipse
The red and blue lights illuminate the alleyway for a second before darkness consumes any remaining light as the police cars pass by. I stay down as I move closer to the streets, making sure to stay behind anything I can. Helicopters pass overhead, their spotlights shining down over the city while they look for anyone out of their apartments. Soldiers run past the alley, moving closer to where the Freedom Tower had crashed.
"Due to the crash of the Freedom Tower, the residents of New York City may be sitting in their apartments or the military outposts for a while as the government places New York City under Martial Law. This is due to the report of multiple armed people seen around and near the Empire State B-" The TV is cut off as the woman in the apartment above the alley slams her window shut, the sound now muffled through the glass.
Thick smoke still resides in some areas, lights barely making it through. I stay crouched as I move down the sidewalk, the streets eerily bare of anyone as everyone had ran in the opposite direction. How am I going to find them in this huge city? My hand flies to my pocket as the phone begins to buzz, luckily on silent. I quickly move down the street, the buzzing seeming to be a siren to alert everyone where I am.
"What?" I keep my voice low as I turn down the corner, no one on this street either.
"There you are! I've been calling you all day, what happened to you?!" I wince and move the phone away from my ear, Julie's yelling causing a throbbing to start.
"Shiro and Kuro were taken, I am looking for them now." The line stays silent for a couple of seconds, tempting me to hang up and refocus on the mission.
"Where are you?"
"Somewhere near Times Square-I think... I don't know for sure."
"Stay low, Xileth and I will come and get you." I growl and try to restrain myself from raising my voice.
"I am not waiting for you! I need to find them now!"
"Kali and Logan have been captured, we can't risk you getting captured with them! For all we know, Kuro and Shiro could be with Kali and Logan. If that is the case then we need to all be together to save them so you're staying right where you are and we will be there soon!" Julie hangs up before I can respond, effectively pissing me off. Why the hell should I listen to her? She isn't the one who just lost two of her closest friends!
I continue down the street, pocketing my phone. I fall to the ground as something knocks into my arm, pushing me forward. I wince and move my hand to my throbbing shoulder, something wet coming through my shirt. Part of the wall above my head explodes into dust as a gunshot echoes down the street. Get up and run. I look around the area quickly, trying to find the shooter. Run. Unable to find them I quickly jump to my feet and sprint down the street as the ground behind me explodes into dust.
Light shines down on me from one of the buildings, temporarily blinding me before I am able to turn my eyes away from it. The light continues to follow me, more lights shining down one me the farther I get down the street. I let out a shout as something hard hits me in the stomach, launching me backward and into a streetlight.
"Got the other one." My vision blurs as the girl with brown hair walks up to me. Two more walk up on either side of her, the lights around me going out.
"You sure they are a part of a team?" The girl with brown hair ignores the blonde girl's question, taking another step closer to me.
"Let's ask him." I wince as she digs her nails into my neck as she forces me to look up at her. "Are you a part of the tournament?" I stay silent, a smile coming from her. "Good, thought so." She lets go and pushes me back against the crooked street light. "Where are your team mates?"
