We all wear masks. Illusions of what we want the world to see, but when we hide our true selves from those we love what price do we pay for that deception?

"Come on, come on!" Blood stains the sheets of the bed as I press down on the reopened wound, Lucifer groaning in pain. I ignore the booms that sound as more planes crash into buildings around us. Hibiki continues to yell as he wraps up Samantha's legs, trying desperately to stop the bleeding as we both ignore the concussive blasts. She most likely isn't going to survive Hibiki... Give it a rest... I turn back to my own problems as blood seeps through the bandage wrapped around Lucifer's stomach. I hold back my tears as he opens both of his eyes, looking at me as they glisten from tears.
"G...Give u-up... S-Save... you...yourself..." I shake my head and run to the wall, picking up the first aid kit before running back to Lucifer's side. I take out the needle and thread and pull away the bandages from his side, blood staining more of the sheets as I quickly begin to stitch up his cut, pushing it together as I go along. Samantha's screams make me turn around quickly, dots filling my vision as I watch Hibiki press as flame to one of Samantha's legs. Cauterizing the wound. "M-Macy..." I look back at Lucifer, his eyes wide with pain. Blood goes through my hands as I continue to stitch up his wound, fighting back tears. You can't die Lucifer. You can't, I won't let you!
I tense as his hand lands on mine, sending the needle deeper than I intended. I push it out of the way quickly and continue to seal the wound, nearing the end. A flicker of hope takes hold in me as I put in the last two stitches, tying the ends so it stays together. Lucifer's hand closes around mine, his other hand coming up to my cheek. I look into his eyes, a sad smile on his lips as he pulls me close to him. He leans up and meets me half way, kissing me as tears run down my face.
"Macy! I need your help! Now!" I glance behind me, Lucifer keeping me close to him. Lucifer smiles at me again and kisses me before letting go and leaning down on the bed. I spare another glance at Lucifer before grabbing the first aid kit and moving next to Hibiki. He cauterizes Samantha's other leg, motioning to the bandages next to me. I grab them and begin to wrap up Samantha's right leg, trying to push Samantha's screams out of my head as I carefully wrap them. The others in our group watch from the door, staying silent. Weaklings. I push down my anger and finish up wrapping Samantha's right leg, moving onto her left leg swiftly as Hibiki moves up to where Samantha is.
Samantha's eyes stay closed as he grabs her hand, holding onto it tightly. I watch the bandages for a couple of seconds, daring the blood to seep through. A part of me hopes she'll just die here so we can focus on winning, she's obviously a part of the tournament. Dammit Hibiki! You're only keeping her alive because she reminds you of her. I bite back the urge to yell, turning my attention to the other standing by the door.
"Thanks for helping guys, you've been a great asset to our team." One of them opens their mouth to speak, closing it a couple seconds after. Cowards. I push off of the bed and stand to my feet. "Leave it Hibiki, she fainted from the pain." He doesn't look at me, continuing to watch Samantha as she takes shallow breathes. I sigh and turn back to Lucifer, his eyes closed but still breathing. The stitches are holding up nicely... Good... I sigh and walk out of the room, the others moving out of the way for me as I walk to my room. I pull off my shirt as the door clicks shut behind me, the distorted light filling the room from the window.
My suitcase falls to the floor as I try to open it, opening and sending clothes all over the floor. Fun. I lean down and begin to pick up the clothes, stuffing them back into the suitcase. I freeze as a gunshot sounds from the hallway, one of the people on my team screaming as they hit the floor. More gunshots fill the hallway, more people hitting the ground. I stay as silent as possible as I pick up a bloodless shirt and slowly put it on, turning to face the closed door. Boots move down the hallway, moving with purpose. Trained soldiers. The door to the room next to me is kicked open, the wall shuddering as the door collides with it.
