Chapter 3:
"So... you're not going to class?"
I am so confused right now. He's sitting on the disgusting concrete patio that no one's bothers to clean and now he's starting to freak me out by staring at the ground and not moving.
"Does it look like I'm going to class sweetheart?"
His snippy voice and his violent head shake told me to leave him be. I'd just have to deal with him again later when we get our punishment for something I didn't even do.
I stood up and walked in the door and into the cool hallway.
----------------------------------
"You know what would be awesome," Lucas stepped over a pencil," a new swimming pool, our swim team hasn't put in a new pool in a while and ours is outdated."
I nodded and pulled his arm as we passed Mr. Donald's office. "What the hell Ker-."
"You finally decided to show up?" Mr. Donald asked.
I sat in the brown chair from earlier that day and Lucas stood behind me.
"Kerri why are we-?"
I slapped his chest with the back of my hand.
He just will not stop will he?
About 15 minutes after the bell had already rung Grey stepped into the room.
"You're late," Mr. Donald said sternly," take a seat Grey."
Lucas sucked in as breath of air," I'm just going to step outside, I'll wait for you there, Kerri."
When he tried to step out I pulled his shirt back and he was right back where he started.
"I do believe some punishments were in order?"
I nodded my head unhappily.
"Well, the two of you have library duty until further notice."
I sighed and Grey rolled his eyes. Ha, like he would be there, he hardly even shows up for school.
"You both will do as the librarian says for until further notice. You do badly you earn longer duty, you do splendid then well you get out if there sooner. Every Wednesday until four."
I sighed and Grey looked unaffected. Lucas however looked as if he was going to die.
"Thank you for you actually showing up, you are dismissed."
Grey shot out the door and Lucas wasn't too far behind.
"What the hell was that Kerri? Are you trying to kill me? I was dying in there." You could hear the agony in his voice as he whined and beat up my shoulder. We walked down the hallway simultaneously.
"I got caught with him."
His face lit up and he stopped hitting me.
"Not like that, god Lucas. Okay, first I was walking to my class and the bell rung so I walked faster and ran right into him. He was running from Mr. Donald so he shoved me into the guy's bathroom then we saw him again and he shoved me into the janitors closet and got me in trouble by his presence." I sucked in a breath before laughing.
"So you got to be up against him and you didn't take advantage of that? You're crazy."
"I'm also not a hoe, Lucas." I emphasized his name and opened the doors to the school so we could get over to his car.
"You calling me a hoe?"
I nodded.
He sighed and shrugged his shoulder kinda maybe agreeing with me.
I took my bookbag and threw it into the back seat along with his before I jumped into the front seat beside him.
I watched the trees pass by and glanced at Lucas turning the steering wheel.
"Did you see his gorgeous jawline? I'd die to touch it." His voice got even more girly when he asked the question. His face was lit up like a lightbulb and his perfectly crafted eyebrows were arched in amazement.
I reached for my phone and checked the time before replying to him.
"I'm sorry but you're pathetic. Yes, he's gorgeous and his jawline is to die for but he's also a player, an ass, a trouble maker, and a slacker. I am staying clear of his path as much as possible. And you will do the same."
My attitude was terrible and when I saw the expression on his face I stopped talking.
He shook his head and shut up. As I fiddled with my phone we ended up in my driveway within a couple of minutes.
He didn't seem too happy. "Are you okay?"
He nodded, but I could tell that I had hurt him.
"Lucas."
I went to touch his shoulder but he grabbed my arm. "I don't want to talk to you right now. Just leave, I'll see you tomorrow."
With that I jumped out of the car and grabbed my bag before slamming the door shut.
How dare he? He knew I was messing around with him why would he act like that, I would never call him something like that, yet he took it straight to heart.
I watched as he drove away and turned onto the main road.
Mom hadn't cooked supper so I went to my room and didn't speak a word to my family.
I locked my door behind me and sat on my bed staring at the wall.
He is so sensitive. This will drive me crazy. I won't be able to sleep tonight. I cannot believe he is going to be a cry baby.
I got my phone out of my bag and fell back onto the bed. I had no notifications because I'm a loser.
Should I text him? I shouldn't, he just wants to be alone, he should cool off for a little while. He seemed really mad at me and the best thing I can do is to let it pass.
I clicked on his name and started typing.
'I'm sorry, Lucas. I didn't mean to call you a hoe. You can kinda be a hoe though. I mean, who wouldn't suspect it, you're all over guys all the-'
Maybe I shouldn't say that in particular..
'I'm sorry, Lucas. I didn't mean to call you a hoe. You're my best friend and I would give anything to keep you happy and you know that. Thanks for being such an amazing friend.'
Much better. I just wish I could say what I feel, but then if I did that I would lose my best friend.
I sent it though he probably hadn't cooled off yet. Maybe he was okay enough to reply.
I went over to my desk chair and pulled my wavy hair into a messy bun, an ugly extra messy bun.
When I had pulled my hair up my phone rang.
An unknown caller.
"Hello." My voice was small.
"Hey, how are you?"
What the hell?
Vote or comment... it would be greatly appreciated..
