Chapter 6:

I watched Lucas pull up in the driveway out of the ktichen window.

"Mom, Lucas is here, I've got to go."

I explained everything to her this morning, all except the part where Grey interacted. That was never to be spoken of, she would never trust me again.

"Watch yourself, Kerri. I don't want to get a call from the police department," my mom yelled as I stepped out the door.

Lucas watched me step off the sidewalk and open the car door. "Everything go okay?"

I nodded and pulled my phone out of the sidepocket in my bag.

"Now, tell me everything, I mean everything." His face was humorous but you could tell he was still serious.

"He called me, you know that. He picked me up, you know-,"

Lucas cut me off," Just tell me what you didn't get to last night." He was frustrated with my slightly annoying explanation.

"Okay," I took a deep breath in," when I was walking home last night he pulled up behind me, in his car. He wanted to take me home, using the 'it's cold out here' excuse. Then, when I told him that I don't need a knight in shining armour and that I don't need his help, he went off and started saying that he just wanted to get to know me because we were going to be stuck with each other in the library. I pushed it way too far and ended up screwing up royally."

"Kerri, he was just trying to be nice."

I shook my head. "No, he's a bad boy, you know what they do, break you. I don't want any friendship with him. He's trouble."

I huffed and Lucas glanced over at me. "He was trying to be nice. Do you actually think that he would want to help you if he was only trying to hurt you?"

I scoffed. "So you're taking his side?"

I rolled my eyes and felt my cheeks heat up with anger.

He sighed and pulled into the school parking lot. "No, I think that you're reading him wrong," Lucas muttered as we parked.

I don't want to hear anymore of his lies. He's a traitor.

I rushed out of the car with anger and ran to the school to get away from him only to run into Grey's broad chest, again.

"Whoa, slow dow-," he sees who just ran into him and backs up and turns the other way. I sigh and turn the opposite way as well and run right smack dab into Lucas.

Just freaking great.

"Kerri, calm down."

"No, Lucas," I yell loudly. Everyone turns to look at the two of us with wide eyes. I walk away from the scene and Lucas follows.

"Kerri please wait. I'm sorry," Lucas yells. I whisp around quickly, surprising Lucas," I don't need your apology, I need you to be on my side of things, you're a traitor, and on this subject." I give him the 'I can't believe you' look and walk away and into my first class.

I wake up to the sound of the school bell ringing.

I grab my notebook from my table and see the teacher looking at me. "Ms. Rivers, you slept my whole class. And you weren't in my class yesterday, I was told that you got library duty for it as well. What is going on?"

I shook my head and piled my stuff into my bag. "Nothing."

She scoffed and walked out from behind her desk. "Kerri, what happened?"
