Chapter 35:
(Kerri's POV)
"Give it to me!" I yell at the asshole named Grey in the driver seat beside me.
He just laughs and tries to get around the slow poke in front of us.
"Grey!"
"Kerri!" he attempts to mimic my so called squeaky voice.
I stab him with my deathglare and reach for my phone while he tries to concentrate on the road.
I miss and he shoves it into his pocket.
"I should've never thrown away my pepper spray," I state with my arms crossed. I watch as the trees whisp by the car, wait, wouldn't we be whisping by the trees instead?
"You wouldn't dare, come on, you know that this is gonna be fun," he says with glee in his tone.
I nod sarcastically," yeah, totally, because the last time I went anywhere with you I ended up half drunk and then in a hospital bed. Totally fun, anywhere with you is gonna be funtown for sure."
My girly voice catches him off guard and he is taken aback, not saying a word.
"Finally got you to shut up."
He sighs," nope, I'm still filled with smartass remarks and fun filled ideas."
I groan in fake pain as a reply and he only pats my head.
I adjust my halter bikini top under my huge t-shirt and lean against the door.
"Where are we gonna go? It's the middle of winter?" I question his sanity.
He shrugs," I guess you'll have to sit tight and wait and see, won't you?"
I roll my eyes and slump in the passenger seat.
--------
"What the hell are we doing at a huge ass mansion?" I yell when we turn the corner. We had just finished, what I swear was a 20 mile driveway, then came into an circular opening. After that, we drove about another mile and now I see this huge white mansion.
"It's my family's vacation house."
I say nothing but my expression obviously gives away all my thoughts.
"Yes, I know, you never expected me to be that rich snooty kind. I don't ever come here but no body is ever here and it's got a heated pool..."I shake my head," so you drove two hours away to rub my nose in your money?"
His face morphs into anger," I brought you here because you needed to get out of that damn house. And this place is huge with just us in it. So no, I didn't drive two hours to rub your fucking nose in--"
"Grey, I was kidding!"
He rolls his eyes and hits me on the upper arm.
I laugh and watch his angered face turn to happiness, which only makes my smile brighter.
We pull around into the brick loop in front of the huge house and he stops the car.
"Stay," he states and gets out of the car, leaving me in the warm car.
He runs around the car, holding the jacket tightly to his torso, and grabs the icy door handle on my side.
Is Grey Elliot really opening a car door for me?
Yes, yes, he is.
"My lady," he grins when the door is completely open. He gives me his hand and helps me from the car, grinning widely.
I laugh and blush at his wild gesture.
"Now, where would Miss. Rivers like to visit first?" he asks oddly, pulling a single lonely key from his black jeans.
The wind whips at my hair and tugs at his white shirt underneath his black jacket as we approach the large wooden doors.
"Wherever is fine with me."
My small laugh makes him smirk.
He unlocks the door and pushes it forward, letting me go first into the toasty house.
My breath is knocked right out of me when I see the large hall with a set of stairs to the left and right. A small chandelier hangs in the room to our right, I assume is the dining room.
"This is your vacation house?" I ask stupidly, a look of awe plastered to my features.
"Uhh yeah. Let's get you into the sitting room."
We walk down past the two staircases and into a dark room with burnt umber walls. The fireplace sits directly in front of the doorway and the walls are almost covered in nature themed paintings.
"You do realize that if you drool on the ground you get to clean it up, right?" Grey knocks me out of my observation.
I nod and sit on the cushy deep burgundy couch.
"Why don't you ever come here? Live here?" I ask as he joins me on the couch.
He shrugs," I don't talk to me father, my mother is a different story, I live with my grandmother. I have very few good memories and a lot of bad ones here, I'm sure you can relate."
I nod. I can, really, my father is a part of my life that I'd rather not discuss. There's only one time that I will ever discuss my father: when Hannah finds out that he left us.
"No more memory lane, I want to show you the rest of the house, you'll love it."
He pulls my hand and I'm up off the dark couch within seconds.
"I want you to see these ridiculous bathrooms!" he yells and drags my hand faster and then up the stairs.
When we get to to the second level he continues to pull me down a long hallway.
Grey suddenly stops," this was my room. Come on."
I follow him into the large room. It looks like the size of my house!
"This, This, This is amazing Grey."
He laughs and I see him nod in my peripheral vision.
"You haven't seen anything yet."
His excited tone gives me chill bumps and when he opens the sliding door to our right I am just as amazed.
I hope this has been a satisfying chapter. I know I enjoyed writing it. We will probably get to 40 chapters and then go over to our second book. I'm also thinking about making each book 50 chapters. So we will have 150 chapters in all. Sound good? If you enjoyed Kerri and Grey's happy moments then comment so! Love you guys!! I may double update if I feel like it, I'm really in a writing mood tonight!! -C
