Two years later.

Lillian heard the door of her house open and she knew it was Ryan who picked Zane up from soccer pratice. She was at the table with Mackenzie, feeding her her snack. Lillian giggled at her adorable little princess who decided the powered of the cheese puffs were much funner to play with then actually eating them.

Mackenzie hair was dark as a baby but when it grew it just got lighter and lighter until it was blonde. She had Ryan's family curls so she had spiral curly blonde hair and his blue-gray eyes but she was happy Kenzie looked a lot like her where Zane looks a like Ryan.

Zane walked into the kitchen, "Hey, Zane, how was-oh, my god!", she said, her voice concern as she saw a black eye around Zane right eyes and she quickly got up from the chair, running over to her baby boy. She bent down and put her arms on his shoulders, "What happened?"

"I'm fine, mom.", Zane said, groaning as she shrugged her hands off and she pouted at him. "Tyson just kicked the ball to hard and it hit me in the face."

"Tyson did this? I thought he was your friend.", she said, slightly touching the light shade of blue and black around his eye.

"He is and it was on accident. Jeez, stop freaking out.", he said as he walked around her and over to the fridge. Her mouth was hanging open as she stood up in shock and Ryan just shrugged.

"It was an accident, can't hold his hand forever Lil.", Ryan said.

"But he's hurt!", she said, turning around to Zane. "You sure your okay, Zane?"

"Yeah, mom, I'm fine.", he said, biting into the apple he had in his hand. "Please stop freaking out, I had brusies before."

"No one ever put them on you before.", she said.

"It was an accident though.", Zane said.

"Lil, come on.", Ryan chuckled behind her. "It's sports, it was bound to happen. Zane actually kind of proud, he kept talking about how cool Tyson kicked the ball and how he took it like a man, didn't even cry."

Lillian frowned, wishing she could pick Zane up like he was a baby again and smother him in love like how she use to and he would smile for her. She looked at her eight year old son who was to big to be held and he was growing up. Why'd it have to be so fast though?

"Okay, okay.", Lillian said. "Dinner should be ready in an hour, why don't you go do your homework."

"Yeah, yeah.", Zane said, obviously not excited doing homework. He obviously also doesn't like doing school work like Ryan where Lillian loved doing it.

Lillian was frowning as Ryan crawled into bed and grinned as he wrapped his arm around her waist, kissing her neck, "Kenzie actually went to bed early without a fuss.", he said.

"I don't know if Zane should continue playing soccer.", she said, ignoring his kisses. She was more worried about Zane getting hurt. If a black eye was just the beginning, God knows what else could happen to him! He could break his arm or leg! His neck! The thought frightened her.

"Lets not talk about that right now.", Ryan said, kissing further up her neck to her cheek and on her mouth before she put her hand on his chest, pulling him away.

"I want another son.", she said suddenly and his eyes widen.

"Excuse me?", he asked, chuckling at her. "What does Zane getting hurt-on accident I'll remind you-have to do with having another kid?"

"Zane doesn't need me anymore, he's growing up to fast and one day, he'll be out of the house!", she said, her eyes watering up. "He's eight, Ryan! One minutes he was eight days, then eight months, now eight years! Next it'll be eighteen!, she said.

"Isn't that why we had Kenzie, because we wanted another kid?", he asked.

"Kenzie our princess, she wont want to do sport.", she said.

"You don't know that.", he said. "A lot of my family members that are girls play soft ball."

"Or she could be like me and hate them, but be really smart.", she said.

He chuckled again, "Lil, relax. What happened today was no big deal and it shouldn't be why you want another son. I got hurt a lot as a kid and I'm completely fine."

"That's different, Zane is my son.", she said, pointing at her chest. "And as his mother, I'm suppose to protect him."

"By smothering him?", he asked and she scuffed. "Lil, he's growing up, yes, but no matter what he'll always be our little boy. You gotta let him spread his wings and you can't make him stop, he loves it to much and it'll only make him mad at you."

"But. . .but. . .ugh!", she groaned, hating him for being right. Zane was a stubborn, stubborn boy and if she makes him stop, he could end up hating her no matter how much she wants to protect him. She couldn't have him hate her and he did seem pretty okay earlier. "Okay, fine, your right.", she said.

"Like always.", he said and she rolled her eyes at him. He chuckled and kissed her, this time she kissed him back.
