This is Laura.
Laura's P.O.V~flashback~
"I'm very sorry to tell you Laura, but your mother passed away just under an hour ago," the police officer told me. I couldn't hear her anymore over my tears. But it was one sentence that caught me by surprise. "Your mother didn't leave you any money or anything?" The officer asked me.
"N-n-no," I stuttered, "why?"
"Do you have a friend you could stay with for a while?"
The truth was, I didn't have very many friends, and the ones I did have were pity friends! But I didn't want to tell her that! So I said, "no officer, they're all away for Spring break."
"All of them?" She asked shocked. I nodded my head and she looked more distressed, "what age are you miss Marano?"
"Sixteen."
"Then I'm very sorry, but you will no longer be able to live in this house." And with that, she nodded to me and left. I couldn't believe her! Was she kicking me out of my own house? STRAIGHT AFTER MY MOM DIED? I broke down again and leaned against the door for support. Why was this happening to me?~flashback over~
It was the next day. They had been kind enough to give me one day! I was in my room, packing as much food, water, clothes and essentials into my bag as possible. I charged my phone to 100%. I charged my portable charger and put them both in my bag. This would keep my phone alive for at least 24 hours!
UGH! I wish this was just one massive nightmare that I could open my eyes and it would all be over...but sadly it's not! It's the cold, hard truth!
