Ross's P.O.V
Laura and I were in the waiting room waiting for the nurse to tell us what Laura's scan said about her back. The nurse eventually called us back into her room. "Laura I'm sorry to tell you that you are going to have to wear a back wrap for three to four months," she said. I looked at Laura as she said, "why?"
"Well, the two days in which you didn't tell anyone about your injuries, were two days your muscle stopped growing. The back wrap stops it from getting infected and it will help with the growth of the muscle," the nurse explained. "What about crutches?" I asked. "You will need crutches for some of the time. The medication we are giving you doesn't react well with painkillers and effects everyone in different ways. It's too dangerous to give it to someone, like you, that's already been in a coma before," the nurse told us. "So I can't take painkillers?" Laura asked. She shook her head and Laura said, "but what if gets really bad?"
"Laura I know that you have a high pain tolerance, so I know that this will hurt, but it won't be completely unbearable," the nurse told Laura. Laura sighed as the nurse continued, "if the pain in your back does get unbearable, come hear straight away. And I don't want to sound like I'm telling you off Laura, but you could have got away with crutches for a month and no back wrap if you'd gone to the hospital the day you got hurt." I saw Laura look down and the nurse must have saw it too because she quickly said, "but we can't change the past so I'm sure you will be just fine."Laura's P.O.V
The nurse took me into a back room to get my back wrapped, which turned out to just be wrapping my back in a bandage with a weird bendy plasticy thing between the bandage and my back. She gave me my crutches and told me to walk out on them. She said my back would be the most sore tonight because the medicine they had inject into my muscle would restart the growth quite quickly and so tonight my muscle would be doing the most growing. Though she also said there wouldn't be a noticeable difference in my muscle until the second month. "Thank you," I said to the nurse as I walked out on my crutches to where Ross was. He said thank you to the nurse and held the door open for me, keeping his head down and not looking at me the whole time. We got out to a taxi waiting for us. In the car Ross called Riker to find out where the bus was, make them wait somewhere with an address and tell him what the nurse said about my back. Riker sent Ross an address and he gave it to the taxi driver who got us there in ten minutes. Another whole ten minutes in which Ross didn't utter a word to me. Though he was being really annoying, he was still Ross and he couldn't be rude. He opened every door for me and helped me out of the taxi, paid the driver and helped me onto the tour bus. "I'm going to bed," he muttered, locking the door of the bus. I sighed and slowly sat down on the sofa.It was now three in the morning and I didn't think I would get any sleep. I stood up again and walked down to the kitchen to get a drink.
I reached up to get a glass and pain shot through my back. It felt exactly like it had when Lee closed the locker on it. I started to fall but grabbed the counter to stabilise myself. Obviously I wasn't being as quiet as I thought I was being because Ryland was beside me in seconds helping me over to the chair. "Laura what happened?" He asked, crouching down beside me. I explained everything about my back, trying to hold back tears. The nurse that told me I had a high pain tolerance? She was wrong. Ryland helped me to the couch where I lay down. Riker came in an told Ryland to go back to bed. Riker sat with me in silence for a few minutes before he said, "do you want me to get Ross?" I shook my head and let the tears fall from my eyes, "he's not speaking to me." Riker looked at me and said, "why?"
"Because I didn't tell him that Lee slammed a locker door on my back. And because the nurse said that if I had gone to the hospital that night, then none of this would be happening and Ross would still be talking to me." Riker helped me sit up as he sat down beside me. "Do you think he hates me now?" I asked, leaning my head on Riker's shoulder. He shook his head and nodded said, "he could never hate you. He's worried about you Laura. The way the nurse was talking to you guys, this sounds really serious." I sighed and looked away from Riker, "he doesn't seem to be that worried."
"Really?" Riker asked as he stood up, "look outside." He walked away leaving me speechless. What did he mean 'look outside'? I walked over to the bus door and opened it. I looked around the stop where we were parked for the night. I saw Ross sitting against a wall with his head in his hands. I walked over to him and sat down beside him, laying my head on his shoulder. "I'm sorry," I whispered. He wrapped his arm around my shoulder and kissed my head saying, "no I'm sorry. You're going through a lot of pain and I was just being childish and annoying."
"I should've just went to the hospital that night."
Ross nodded his head in agreement but said, "I heard you talking to Riker. I could never hate you Laur, I love you with all of my heart, and nothing could ever change that." A tear rolled down my cheek as he pulled me off the ground and into a kiss.
