A few weeks later
Laura's P.O.V
Ross was in at work today but I had a day off. I was lying at home on the sofa watching TV when my phone started to ring. I picked it up and saw Rocky's name on the screen.
{conversation}
L: Hey Rock!
R: Hey Laur, you're off work today right? And Ross is in?
L: Yeah why?
R: Do you mind if I come over for a bit? I have something I want to tell you but I don't want to tell anyone else at the minute.
L: Yeah sure of course, I'll leave the door open how long will you be?
R: Like two seconds I'm in the car park now
L: *laughing* okay Rocky, see you soon
"Hey," I smiled opening the door for Rocky to walk in. He smiled weakly at me and came in and sat on the sofa. There was something off with him, he's usually so happy and bubbly. I closed the door and then joined him on the sofa. "What's up?" I asked him. "There's just been something on my mind lately and I feel like you're the only person I can talk to because I'm starting from the beginning and you're the only person who wasn't there at the time and didn't watch everything happen," he explained, "that didn't know her."
"of course, Rocky, I'm always here for you," I said, encouraging him to continue. He took a deep breath before continuing, "So when I was sixteen I had a girlfriend called Lexie. She was beautiful and within a couple of weeks of knowing her I'd completely fallen in love. She became one of Rydel's best friends and she was like a big sister to Ross and Ryland who were only like thirteen and twelve. We dated for over two years and on my eighteenth birthday I used some of my birthday money to buy her a promise ring. Anyway, I invited her over one night to give her the ring, but before I got to give it to her we got in a massive fight. She left our house and shortly after we got a phone call from the police." He stopped and looked down, a tear falling from his eye. "She d-died that night." I leaned forward and pulled him into a hug. "It's okay Rocky," I said, trying to calm him down. "No, it's not Laura! It's my fault that she got in that crash that night! She was supposed to be staying over and then I said something stupid that I can't even remember and she left. If I'd never said anything she would never have left and she would still be here and I would have married her by now!" He said, tears running down his face. "Rocky this is not your fault!" I scolded. "Nothing will ever change my mind on the fact that it is," he whispered. We sat for a while, neither of us saying anything before Rocky broke the silence, "Laura I need to show you something..." I nodded my head, waiting for him to continue. My heart dropped to my feet when he moved his hand down to his sleeve and started to pull it up to reveal several deep cuts along his wrist. I felt my eyes start to water before I looked up at him. "How long?" I whispered. "Since the day she got in the crash," He replied, pulling his sleeve back down. "Rocky why did you not tell anyone?" I asked him. "Because everyone was mourning in their own ways this was just mine," He told me. "But Rocky even after! Why have you never told anyone?" I asked him. "Because after everyone was fine again I didn't want to remind them of how sad they all were," He said. I sighed and a couple of tears slid down my face, "Please stop." He hung his head and said, "I can't Laura, I physically can't..." We sat in silence once again and this time it was my phone ringing that broke the silence. I picked it up and saw Ross's name appear on the screen.
{conversation}
R: Hey babe, I'm on my way home I was just wondering if you need me to pick anything up in target?
L: No, I think we're fine
R: Ok see you in ten minutes
L: Ok baby
"I'm going to go," Rocky said once I'd hung up. "Okay," I sighed as we both stood up, "But I'm coming to talk to you about this tomorrow." He nodded his head and said, "Thank you so much Laura." I hugged him and said, "No problem Rocky I'm really glass you told me everything and I promise you will get through this okay?" He nodded his head and smiled weakly at me before leaving.
