The minutes seemed to just melt away as I stared blankly at my clock. Each fleeing minute felt like a second. I lay-ed there in my bed, clutching the covers just to make sure it was all real. I layed there waiting for the alarm to finally sound and signal the start of my day.

I thought I was past these kind of nights. Ever since I started to see Mrs. Rose the sleepless nights went away. I would face my horrors then so I wouldn't have to now... Was it the days events that started the hellish nightmares again? Was it meeting Oliver? Or was it my encounter with Daniel?

I flipped a switch on my clock, turning off the alarm. I decided to start my day sooner then later. I slipped out from under the covers and began to feel like I was drifting. It was as if I it wasn't me doing everything. I stood up from my bed and crossed the room to get my clothes. I entered my small closet and pulled a good pair of jeans off the hanger. I pushed the clothes to the side, one by one, as I searched for a nice shirt to wear. I settled for a loose blue, long sleeve that would barely hang off of my shoulders.

I stepped out of my room and went into the bathroom. I closed the door behind me as I entered the bathroom and I sat my clothes onto the counter. I slipped out of my clothes from the day before and turned the shower handle. Warm water fell from the shower head into the tub below. I smiled slightly as I stepped under the water, letting it wash away my worries.

Moments passed. I washed my body and hair quickly, giving me time to shave. I stood under the water for just another minute before turning the water off and stepping out of the warmth of the shower. I wrapped a towel around my body quickly, blocking out the cold and walked to the sink. It took all of two minutes to changed into my fresh set of clothes.

I wiped away the steam that clung to the bathroom mirror and used it to pull up my hair. I pulled my hair into a high pony tail and left a few loose pieces down to frame my face. It was simple yet nice. I slipped out of the bathroom, not bothering with makeup. I haven't touch the products since Father died. I only used it to cover the bruises he left, why hide what he could no longer do to me?

Silence filled the entire apartment. Michael always slept in until at least to ten o-clock on the weekends. I crossed the front entrance and took my shoes off the rack. I slipped on my newer running shoes and grabbed my bag as I left the apartment. I entered the hall and slid my bag over my shoulder, ready to face my new experience.

I walked down the stairs unto the first floor and left the apartment building. To my surprise Oliver was standing just outside the doors, pacing. "Hey, you're here early?"

Oliver looked up from the sidewalk and gave me a nervous smile. "It's been a while since I took a girl out. I wasn't sure how early to come or how much time to wait to get you."

"It's fine. I usually get ready early anyways. I don't spend a lot of time getting ready."

Oliver opened the passenger door of his car allowing me to sit down. "You look beautiful, no matter what." I couldn't help but smile. He shut my door and jogged around the car to get in as well. He slipped into his seat at the wheel of the car and turned to face me as he hooked his seat belt. "You ready?"

"Yeah." I nodded.

Oliver pulled into the early morning traffic and began our journey to who knows where. He drove in silence, his eyes scanning the road very carefully as he drove with the flow of traffic. My mind started to wonder what he was thinking. Was he looking for something or was it just reflex to investigate every detail?

Oliver glanced at me and laughed. "What's on your mind?"

"Nothing."

Oliver turned back to the road, his eyes continuing their search. "Uh huh, sure." He pulled the car out of the traffic and up to the curb outside of a row of older looking shops. I expected to go to a Starbucks or something.
