Mavis & Zeref III

Mavis's POV

One day, the streets of Crocus were attacked by creatures with fangs and red eyes. I was out buying something for the master and all of the sudden fire spread across the streets. Everyone was running away and some of them were attacked by those creatures. They sucked their blood till it was nothing. One by one the buildings crumbled into ashes and more of those creatures came. I decided to head back to the mansion. I couldn't help but worry about them. I ran through the streets as fast as I could avoiding the fire. I quickly crept away from those creatures.

When I head back I stopped running seeing the mansion burning. "Zera, master..." I muttered to myself and continued running. "Zera! Master!" I entered inside the burning mansion. I dodged most of the fire and ceilings crumbling from the top. Slowly my clothes started to burnt a little and dust covered some part of my face. "Zera! Master!" I searched but couldn't find them. Then I heard a soft voice calling out to me. "Mavis..." I turned around seeing Zera trapped under the huge pillar. I ran towards her grabbing her hand, "Just hold on!" I managed to pull her out. "Are you alright?" She whimpered in pain as she grab her left leg. "My leg's broken and I can't get up." She held my shoulders, "Please Mavis you have to get out of here as fast as you can."

"What do you mean? I can't leave you here!" I cried hugging her. Zera pushed me, "Please Mavis don't be stubborn."

"No I won't!" I helped her up and dragged her quickly out of the mansion. I placed her on the ground. Zera grabbed my hand, "Where are you going?"

"I'm going to find the others and Master Bob." She stopped me, "It's too late for that." I looked at her as tears forming in her eyes. I knelt down beside her, "What happened to master, Yuri and the others?"

"They are gone. I was busy cleaning the room and all of the sudden fire spread across the mansion. Yuri and Warrod went over to save the master but they found him dead in his study. Master was stabbed at his heart. Fire continued to spread and Hades put me under the table and told me to stay there till they come back. However, they didn't and I was worried. I crept out of the table and looked for them and then a pillar fell on top of me and that's when you came in to safe me."

I hugged her as she continues to sob. "What are you doing here?" I heard a voice and turned seeing Zeref standing. "Zeref!" I felt relief running to him but Zera stopped me. "What's wrong Zera?" I heard Zeref snickered at the back as his eyes turned bloody red.

"You are..."

"Finally you realized that I am a vampire. No a pure blood vampire."

My eyes widened, "Vampire?"

He gave me a glare, "You are so naive Mavis showing kindness to a vampire who soon will take your life away. Your precious master...well I killed him."

I felt anger, bitterness inside of me. "How could you Zeref? Why? Why did you do it! Master showed you his kindness and this is how you repay him!?!"

"Actually my own goal was not him but you Mavis."

"What?"

He pointed to me and continued, "You possess high level of magic in you and I planned to take it away from you. It took me many years finding you and finally I managed to find you here in this pathetic mansion. The plan went all too well. I injured myself and you found me and save me. At first I thought to myself that I could kill you in one night and leave but I decided to play along till it was the right time."

My whole body was shaking in fear and anger at the same time. I never expect that the man that I loved the most turned out to be a monster. No this isn't real Mavis. This is a dream! Zeref is a kind and loving man. This isn't real!

"Snap out of it Mavis!" Zera yelled as I came back into reality when Zeref came rushing and strike at my stomach. Blood gushed out as I fell to the ground. "Mavis!" I couldn't move myself. The pain was too much for me and Zeref stood beside me grinning. He played with my golden locks with his bloody fingers, "I'm gonna miss that sweet look on your face. Once I take the magic inside, you will die. Farewell my dear." Is this it? Is this the end of me? "Mavis!" I looked over to Zera who was crying. I smiled enduring the pain, "Run Zera..."

Suddenly I heard loud gun shots and Zeref dodged it. All I could see was a person with a hat holding a sniper. Zeref hissed as the person continued to fire shot. Zeref blocked with his magic and disappeared into the darkness. Before he left he said something of coming back. "I'll shall return Mavis..."

"Mavis!" Zera dragged herself as she held me tightly in her arms crying, "Please don't die on me Mavis. I don't have anyone else but you." I touched her cheeks giving her a soft smile, "I promise Zera."

"Are you two girls alright?" Zera pulled me closer as the guy sighed bending down to us. "Who are you?" Zera asked as the guy took of his hat. "I'm Jose a vampire hunter." Our eyes widened, "A hunter?" He nodded, "Alright we got no time so I get you two safe first. I'll be taking you to the headquarters for the time being to get some medical help." We both just stared at him till he came over and carried us both. "Thank you sir Jose." He winked back. "No problem it's my duty to protect the people from vampires. They are bloodsucking creatures and extremely dangerous. You are lucky that I managed to get in time."

I asked, "How did you find us here?"

"I was killing vampires in town and chasing them in the forest and all of the sudden I heard some screaming and I came to see a mansion burning down and the two of you there with a pure blood vampire. I swear that black hair, red eyes and even his clothes reminds me of that legendary pure blood vampire Zeref. You are lucky that I came just in time before you get killed by him. He's dangerous and he kills his victims off without feeling sorry for them. You should be careful not to let him catch you. By the way I didn't get your names girls."

"I'm Mavis, Mavis Vermillion."

"Zera."

He paused for a moment and then whistled loudly. Sooner his horse came running and he hopped on. He placed the both of us in front of him as he ride the horse back to the city. Half of the city was burnt and buildings crumbled at the side. Across the streets dead bodies lying everywhere and the smell of blood reek in the air along with the smoke up in the red sky. "We are here." said Jose as he stopped in front of a huge torn building. "What is this place?" I asked as he carried us both down. "The hunter headquarters. You two will be safe there for the time being." He brought us in and there were many other hunters sitting there and some of them were taking their weapons. "Yo Enno! I need you to treat these girls immediately." A beautiful lady with brown hair smiled at us as Jose placed us on bed. She touched my forehead, "Don't worry little one, you'll be safe here." And that I closed my eyes drifting off into the darkness.
