Makoto...
'That man...he looks so much like my brother' is the thought that had engulfed me throughout the journey. I had no idea, we were already so far. Sho pedalled the trailer the entire night and now we were dirty and hungry. Due to the Captain's pursuit we had to leave most our food in the forest. Those guys had asked me quite a lot of questions including the owl, Hosuke, I was so much concerned about the rider I replied every question with a yes. So I guess, I couldn't blame them for not asking me before stopping.
We stopped at a place which looked a lot like America, back in the cowboy days as they show in the movies. There weren't many people and the wind blew particles of sand into our eyes. I wouldn't be surprised if I saw two people holding pistols, ready for a showdown. Even in the X-Zone, we didn't expect to see such an area. After walking a distance, with Sho continuously saying that he was starving, we came across a restaurant or that's what we thought it was.
Many people were sitting outside it, they seemed drunk, no, they were drunk. As we approached the door Sho took the lead as I felt that the place was weird. Sho always liked to make an entrance but I did not predict he would do that here as well "Excuse me , could someone give us some food!", he didn't really say that, he screamed it and as he finished his sentence every person in the room shut up. People wearing hats and smoking pipes stared at us as we were angels in hell. They had scarred bodies, different tattoos and I was sure one of them was a convict who had escaped from prison. Not that were any different but still, I had a feeling that the guy really was guilty.
One of them said, "Hey kid, what brings you here?" another asked "What makes you think we'll give you food?" to that Sho replied "because you are good people." At this everybody even me, Hosuke and Kakeru stared at him. I mean, seriously. When he realized we all had questions he said, "Only the people ride MTB, that's what my father always said". At this me, Kakeru and Hosuke were left dumb, the people in the 'pub' started laughing in a really weird manner, like demons about to eat their prey. If one of those people did not say certain words I would have surely broken Sho's skull, but the words were "Hey, Barty, give these kids some food and put it on my tab!" This person welcomed us and so did his friends. We were given lots to eat, Sho began to eat like a pig but I guess I wasn't very civilized at that time either. While eating we heard words that struck us, 'Silver emblems and gold emblems', we had heard of emblems before but the type of metal was new to us. So after we had stuffed our stomachs, Kakeru asked "What's a Silver emblem?" To this our saviour said "10 Silver emblems make a Gold emblem" and his friend continued, "Gold emblems are the ones you want. They can take us back home if you have 10"
Me and Kakeru gulped, for only we could do the maths. Sho was still smiling so Kakeru lifted his glasses and said "That means we need a hundred Silver emblems."
"No problem only hundred races and we can go home. WE might even be lucky and get a gold emblem" Sho replied, smiling.
"See that's what I like about you, kid" said our saviour.
"I can help you there!" said a heavy voice.
As we turned around we saw another guy wearing a hat, standing. As he raised his eyes towards us, I noticed everyone stared at him with hateful eyes, they didn't like him. This man was thin and seemed sly. I didn't like him.
"If you accept my challenge to an Idaten Battle, I'll tell you everything" the guy said.
"Really?"asked back Sho.
"Yes. Just accept it." The man replied.
"Don't do it kid" said the people who helped us, but we needed to know more about this world, me, Kakeru and Hosuke were in too much tension to say anything so we left it to Sho. Then, I realized, even though SHo isn't the brightest guy, when in trouble we could always count on Sho, our leader. Sho didn't say anything as the guy with the heavy voice continued raising everybody's tension, especially Sho's.
