Kenji... 'Talking about monstrous pain, if anyone out there is a masochist, I personally recommend Gabu Samajima, also known as the leader of Team ST. If you are looking for pain, look for this guy. It was around the first time in weeks that I could feel my muscles again.' All of these are the thoughts of yours truly as I walked behind Taiga while he lead me to my tormentor. Gabu was on his throne and as we entered he extended his harm without even looking, holding a file,Taiga quickly took it.
"Mind if I have a moment with him?" said Gabu. "Not at all" replied Taiga as he returned and the state clearly indicated ' Don't even think about getting into trouble again'. Before Taiga left, Gabu asked " I never asked, so what exactly do you call this kid?" which I guess means, what do you want his code name to be? Taiga hesitated for a moment but then he replied "He is known as Hawk". "Interesting, Hawk" was Gabu's reply.
Taiga left and the first thing Gabu said was " Now that he's out of the picture, it's surprising to see you here, Kenji."
" Why do you do that? Talking to Taiga like that I mean. He's way more experienced and older than you are." I replied, it really was disrespectful, Gabu treated his brother like an animal, a slave to get his work done.
"We're MTB riders, experience isn't everything. Skill happens to be a major part of being a good rider." He said coldly.
This really set me on fire, " So you are saying Taiga has no skill, then what does that make you?" My was volume rose, I couldn't bare to see him mock someone who helped me so much.
"Oh dear, are we losing our patience again Kenji, do we remember what happened last time?" he mocked.
Honestly I didn't have an answer to that, it was so sudden while I travelled back to reality, Gabu continued " You can say Taiga's skills are zero and his experience one hundred."
"In that case, your experience is zero, isn't that right?" I replied. At this the thrown turned and after so many weeks I got to see his face. But his reply continues to resonate even now "In comparison to him, yes maybe zero. But what's the point One hundred multiplied by zero is still zero."
"So you accept even you end up being zero with One hundred skill and zero" I replied, still a bit shocked by his answer.
"My dear Kenji, I see your maths is as bad as your skills. One hundred into zero is zero, but zero into One hundred is INFINITY."
Talk about a slap right on the cheek, who would have ever imagined he'd say something like that. I couldn't differentiate my feelings, a part of me hated him and a part of me was totally inspired by him, to a point of admiration.
"Now putting Taiga aside, I was wondering what are you going to call that move of yours, the one you did during the race?" asked Gabu, turning around the topic totally.
"Aaa...flashlight perhaps?" I replied.
To be true Gabu didn't seem impressed at all, he almost fell off the throne.
"Pathetic! I am seriously worried about your lack of brain cells. 'Flashlight', you have got to be joking, I can't have a member of Team ST have a move that sounds as weak as that."
"So what do you suggest?" I asked. After those extremely cool words, I didn't feel like I was in a room with Gabu at all. It was like a really nice person who always be there to guide me. Although, I think it was a speech of inflated ego, it was nice.
"Huh...me? You are asking me?" He asked as he continued to ridiculously point at himself.
I nodded in a reply and he looked up for a while and then said "Since you've named your bike Blaze Phoenix, I suggest this, 'Blaze Phoenix: Wings of Fire'. Does that work?"
" That's it then. It sounds awesome." I was so excited I could hardly contain myself, Gabu's way better than I thought, until that is I saw the death glare stating 'what do you think you're doing, pathetic whimp'
I shut up and stopped smiling and turned around and said "I'll get going then"
"Yeah...please do,before I catch the 'stupid' from you. Oh and Taiga will brief you about your mission. For now you are officially accepted" was that brute's reply.
I left, regretting that for even a few moments I had started to like him. I soon found Taiga a little ahead, he seemed depressed and disappointed and said "I guessed that would be the mission he would give you."
