The Challenge of Destiny

 

On the victory stand------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kyoichi was hiding his secret sorrow with a big smile and wave. Taiga was doing the same, the only difference was that Taiga was expressing his sorrow and joy with tiny droplets of tears which he quickly brushed off as soon as he saw Kyoichi looking down towards him.  None of them  spoke a word but the messages were passed Kyoichi though ‘Why, Taiga?’. Gathering all his guts to face his disappointed friend Taiga turned back, his eyes answered Kyoichi’s question ‘ because I agreed to cheat you and everybody here.’ Kyoichi nodded symbolizing ‘no’. Taiga turned towards the crowd and tried to smile towards his younger sibling, but how could he.

Gabu was clutching his fists. The Shido  siblings were noticing the reactions of these three people. It took a while for Kenji to realize that Gabu was trying to gush out of the crowd. Kenji followed and then he reached out for Gabu’s shoulder and said “Where do you think you’re going.”Gabu brushed off Kenji’s hand from his shoulder and replied “ that’s none of your business”. Soon the award ceremony began the beating of the drums distracted Kenji and Gabu, both of them turned when Kenji turned back Gabu was gone.

Taiga was handed the second positions trophy and a bouquet of  yellow roses. He accepted those gracefully and returned to the victory stand, second position. When Kyoichi was called he too jumped off the stand and headed for the stage. As soon as he stepped on the stage the bands began to play. Kyoichi took the trophy and the flowers and lifted it high like musicians stick and like the orchestra the crowd shouted only the crowd’s shout was much unpleasant. Down in the surging crowd Kenji was searching for Gabu, he looked tensed and nervous. Makoto noticed this she asked Kenji “what’s up”. He replied “Gabu” Makoto jokingly answered “ well, he is not up on the stand then where is he?”. Kenji smirked only to comfort Makoto but in the inside a suspicion grew ‘ why was Gabu gushing out, why is he so angry more importantly what is he up to’ thought Kenji. After all these thoughts had passed he looked up towards his brother and Taiga. Both of them were waving and smiling he thought ‘perfect actors, after all this pain they can actually smile and wave like nothing happened.’ Then he clapped seeing his brother waving at him.

Taiga was able to find the man in question 'gabu'. He said "I'm sorry Gabu but fate was not in our favour". like a red haired Lucifer Gabu replied " Fate was not in our favour, I think, You were not in our favour, Taiga."

Taiga had no comment on this reply he simply looked down. By this time Kenji too had found Gabu. He was starring at him like a hawk watches its prey. Kyoichi too had pointed out the Samajima syblings from the victory stand and was now gushing through the crowd towards Taiga. It was clearly visible that an arguement was on. Just as Kyoichi tapped Kenji's shoulder, he froze, he was afraid that it was the four kings and he was caught spying. As he turned, his mind soothed at the sight of his brother. Before Kenji could comment Kyoichi put his finger on his lips indicating 'shh'. The arguement continued. When finally called Taiga, Gabu tried to slip out. But Kenji had gotten hold of him,

he then asked "Why are you so angry at Mr. Taiga,  it wasn't his fault." Meanwhile Kyoichi and Taiga too were having a discussion on what just happened.

Gabu replied agitatedly " That is none of your business."

" If its about my brother, then IT IS."

Words after words came out and soon Gabu and Kenji got into a rather loud and distactive arguement. When this caught Kyoichi and Taiga's eye the came rushing. Kyoichi too was angry but Kenji had become uncontrolable. Gabu and Kenji were arguing about the race . " your brother woudn't have won if it wasn't for my brother's stupidity" said Gabu, this comment was so loud that  the crowd gathered around them and watched as two young people continued arguing . "Wrong, my brother would have won anyway." said Kenji, without hesitation. A sneaky plan struck into Gabu's head and he said " How about we prove it by race." Kenji in reply said " sure, Kyoichi's gonna beat Mr. Taiga like did right now." Gabu smirked " No young man we're gonna have a race." Kenji was taken aback even though Kyoichi had been giving him lessons he was not as good as Gabu when it came to riding, hesitantly he replied "whh.... what us."   " yes, us , do you accept? If I win I get your brother's TROPHY." Kenji stopped, thousand of thoughts came into his head' what if I lose then Kyoichi will have tohand his tophy.No, I cant let him sacrifice it for me.' he thought. Gabu seeing his plan may fail started taunting Gabu by saying " Come on, say it you dont have the guts, your not like your brother at all, are you."  The last sentence struck Kenji's mind. But before he could reply he found himself being pulled back by Makoto and Kyoichi. Taiga pulled Gabu but he was not as desperate as Gabu. Just before kenji could step into the car Gabu shouted " your a coward that's why you are running." Just before Gabu thought his plan has faded away again because of Taiga, Kenji said " I'm no coward, I accept.". 

An evil smile drew into Gabu's face and he said " This will be the Challenge of your Destiny, Kenji. I gaurantee that."
